ASE model clip function failing after editor rotation?

Ydnar:

Do you know why our .ASE models would fail to clip players once they have been rotated in the entity window? We are using the clip parameter that you created and some of the models will clip correctly, while others fail to clip players at all. To complicate things further, a model that does not clip after one compile may start to clip after the next compile??? :frowning: The only thing that we do to the models is rotate them in the editor with the given angles (found in the entity window). We are baffled as to why this is happening. :???: If it was just one of our .ASE models then we would just figure that it needs to be remade, but it is all of the models that we have created so far. Do you have any ideas as to why this might be happening? Thank you ahead of time for any responses.

My current map has an ASE bathtub which was scaled and rotated, can’t say I’ve had that problem. But I did have problems earlier with that model! Some corrupted polygons prevented it from compiling correctly.

So my guess is that you have something in yoru mesh that prevents it from rotating correctly. Have you tried a stl check on it? (if you’re using max) Sorry if I can’t provide a for-sure answer.

No problem. Thanks for the reply. I used Lightwave to make the model and somebody else converted it to an ASE file in max.

It might be because of the conversion too. File conversion through multiple apps is an iffy thing. :stuck_out_tongue: Best of luck! Hopefully it’s just a little dumb bug that can be fixed in minutes.

Cloudscapes!!!
I have been using MD3 format to get my models in to radient/wolf but the poly limit hit is killing me!!!
Can you please tell me how to get my model into .ase format successfully from Max5?
I tried earlier today with my Poly model, when I tried to export as .ase I got a scrolling error message…probably coz I dont know which parameters to check in the .ase setup!
Thanks for any/all feedback on this!!!

I don’t know about max5, but max4.2 you can export directly to .ase with export or export selected. :fiesta:

(surrenderdorothy) #7

Yes, When I select .ase a window opens with loads of parameters I dunno how to set!
:frowning:

Try these settings.

Remember, you can’t have animation in the ase.

roger roger…back in a mo!

Allright, I quickly just made a box in Max, UV mapped it, textured it in photoshop and put the jpeg and .ase model in Radient (in my mapmodels/mymodels folder)and the bsp halted on an error that it couldnt find the .ase…
I think I am probably putting the file in the wrong place, no? :???:

Q3Map 2.3.36 (see announcement at top of the forum) should fix your ASE clipping woes.

They mostly come out at night. Mostly.
