ASE files and '-custinfoparms'

(Grand Nagus) #1

Pretty much what the topic sez. I have custom sounds in my map which necessitated the addition of ‘surfaceparm grasssteps’ (and other sound-affecting surface parameters).

But I’m still learning how to create and use .ase files… When I convert a mapobject into an .ase, I get errors during the conversion that reference my new surface parameters. But if I try to include the ‘-custinfoparms’ switch into my ASE compiler batch file, the conversion looks for a file named ‘custinfoparms.bsp’ rather than reference my custinfoparms during the conversion.

Is there a way to get ‘custinfoparms’ into an .ase file? If there isn’t, is it really necessary?

Thanks!

You can ignore the surfaceparm warnings on a BSP to ASE conversion. The ASE file doesn’t store any surfaceparm data, only shader name references, so it will work fine.
