bought arty for 30k for an all-rounder guy as i play rhino+sniper so i needed an obj/all rounder char and he pretty bad :0 especially his semi auto weapons!

Yeah, overall he’s fine, but his Artillery Strike really needs a buff. If you don’t like his semi-auto rifle (Dreiss AR), than you could try and get a loadout with the Stark AR or the BR-16, which are both burst rifles.

Meh, his Dreiss isn’t for for everybody and its constantly getting nerfed to uselessness, his airstrike. Designator wouldn’t be so bad if it wasn’t such a deva and did more than what it does now, I’ve made a thread on ideas of changing if you’d like to read it, but as of now his airstrike really feels like a long range but unresponsive Fragger grenade that can be shot from across a map, which just doesn’t seem worth it, the bad overweigh the good imho.

With that said, I feel a little sorry for Arty. Arty isn’t actually bad. Dreiss used to be wildly OP in the hands of good players, too. I think his main problem is just that the competition is just more attractive.

I heard they nerfed the semi-auto rifle spread or accuracy, before that it used to rock. I still like it tho.

It got buffed ( higher ROF ), then nerfed ( worse accuracy ), then nerfed again ( slower reloads ). I still like it, though. I just prefer Kira to Arty in every way.

I find the 3 round burst rifle is best for Arty (and Kira for that matter) compared to the Styer Aug knock off or the Dreiss.
I like Arty, but his Artiller Strike ability is hard for me to get off successfully. I swear whenever I try to use it the enemy merc I am targeting see’s me and blows my head off at range before the strike locks in.
On “paper” his 2 artillery strikes would seem almost op, but because he has to be in a direct line of sight to the target it’s more dangerous than Skyhammres air strike. You would think Kira’s Laser Sat would be just as vulnerable to enemies targeting her as it is also a direct line of site to the target power, but I’ve had much more success with her special than Arty’s.
Could just be bad luck but it happens allot (and I’m a thoroughly average player to boot)

Little tip never aim it at enemies directly (unless you are flanking). Always target areas near them like the corner of their cover or the wall right behind them.

I love Arty. He’s my recent go to merc attacking on Chapel. Try and get a loadout card with the enhanced AoE. Try and aim high up a wall if you can. It will make your targeting laser less noticeable.
Constantly throw ammo out when you can, keep your teammates supplied and get yourself plenty of support points.
I’d say Skyhammer is a better all-rounder than Arty. Try him and see if you get on better.

You need to learn when and how to use his Arty strikes.
They’re extremely strong at taking out Vassilys, Aura stations (ESPECIALLY with Rhinos nearby), and people defusing the C4. You have to be a LOT more disposable with them. Basically, if you see a reason to use them (enemy hiding behind a corner or something), USE IT.
The cooldown is so low that you should basically always try to use it.

Arty is trash. His GTAOE is nearly unusable on 85% of a map. Trying to find a green location while under fire is just making yourself a easy target for anyone paying attention.
I feel ripped off with his purchase.
I couldn’t even begin to tell you whether or not the artillery itself is strong or not since I’ve only had it hit someone maybe once. 9 times out of 10 I get shot trying to play the mini game of find a single piece of green ground while standing in LOS of enemies.
It’s complete and total garbage. Skyhammer with prudent use of his strike is far far far superior.

I’m angry that I bought Arty. He’s trash, garbage.
The GTAOE has nowhere to work. It’s a frustrating mini game of being shot out while not finding a place to target the GTAOE.
In a word it’s BS. It should not be that hard to place the GTAOE. Period fullstop.
