Arty needs a good ol' buff

Once upon a time a man started playing Dirty Bomb.
He got an Obsidian Case. Excitedly, he unboxed it, oblivious to the horrors within.
He recieved an Arty card. He preceded to waste his first 30k credits on this seemingly innocent Chinese man.
Now he regrets that purchase.

So what are some suggested buffs?
I suggest a health buff. And some weapon buffs, but that’s unrelated. Also maybe more weapon choices, like the BR-16.

I think the buff should go towards his ability, less spammy but more powerful (bigger AoE) seems the obvious choice.

a rework to his arty strike would be welcomed… atm the arty strike seems kinda moot

Fairly new player, I’ve only seen arty a dozen times since I started.

Aside from being weaker than skyhammer healthwise, what is the difference between arty and skyhammer exactly?

different guns available

awesome airstrike vs. lackluster artillery

Don’t touch the man damn it. I did the same as OP and had no regrets (and that was before his buffs btw.).
The low cooldown artillery seperates him nicely from both Kira and Skyhammer.

The only thing imo that could be done to him, without making him just the same as the other two.
Is simplifing his targeting. And if we get that I forsee a nerf a couple patches after that because people will start complaining ^^.

Since what separates the choice between Skyhammer and Arty is really their q, if you want to make Arty more viable just buff his q. That way there would actually be situations where you’re on Skyhammer and think to yourself, “Damn, if only I was playing Arty right now…”

arty air strike is useless.

Because its spammy its weak, like naders grenades vs fragger.

I think arty should lose air strike and get an 2 shot rpg or a SMAW

New player here,
currently I only have one gold loadout which is for arty, is it worth getting arty? Or should I save and wait for another gold loadout to pop out of an equipment case?

I think his abilities are fine. As an Arty player myself i’d like to see a health buff. I always feel like I die too fast when in intense situations. I don’t feel this way on my other charaters that I play only Arty.

Depends Try out Kira. If you don’t like her at all (weapons, ability initial targeting). If you can’t handle her weapon or the dreiss if you have that. Then no I wouldn’t go with him.

He is fairly similar to Kira but a bit harder to play in any regards (slower, the targeting is a bit harder).

But either way I would wait to see who will be free the next week.

There are a few things arty is better than kira and sky at, but yea… He is too situational.

IGNORE loadouts as much as you can. Play a merc YOU like; you will get a loadout for them soon enough.

Anything above Bronze is pure cosmetic also.

For a start he needs ease of use buffs for his artillery strike, the targeting system is way too awkward, if you point at an object for example- it should start its targeting zone right there. Because currently it is impossible to get an artillery strike on a bridge, or a vehicle or what not. And the other half of the time it seems to spack out and glitch around the targeting zone, instead of firing, or just tell me it can’t fire when i’m 1500% sure it can, throw in an extra 30% radius and you have the definitive changes I damn sure want to happen.

Apart from that, frankly, I wouldn’t mind his E being changed into something else, to stand him apart from the others, maybe a tear gas grenade or some shit, lasts 10 seconds, deals small damage over time and distorts the vision of those that enter, it’s only fair that an artillery based Merc has something to clear buildings out so he can use his artillery strike.

These changes make him a valid pick across all maps, and make him more desirable in more situations.

Got Obsidian Arty, bought Arty, never looked back. His designator feels wonky to use at first, and can be hard to keep green if you’re targeting while moving. It’s unfortunate that it’s less useful to use it while you’re moving and so to be really accurate you need to stop for a moment to aim. But most of the time stopping for a moment to fire off artillery isn’t a huge deal, if you’re under fire you should be firing back, not using your designator.

But if you ever examine the maps you’ll see how much care the map designers had for Arty. They’ve placed aesthetic overhangs and objects near numerous key areas, the more you mess around as Arty the more of them you find.

Arty needs his targeting debugged.

An interesting (and rather OP) idea would be to make him immune to the headshot damage multiplier. You know, because he’s the only person smart enough to wear a helmet out of the lot of them. It would make him hilariously OP, but it’s some food for thought. :smile:

Yeah the targetting can use some fixing (it should work everywhere Kira’s lazer and Skyhammer’s airstrike work) but it’s also something you need to learn how to use. I play Arty as a main and once you get the hang of it you can get quite a lot of kills with arty.

I think after the recent changes to targetting he is much better. I run a br16 loadout and on chapel my team was getting smashed so I swapped from bushy to arty and immediately cleared the route and got kill streaks. We delivered EV in overtime and then won via deliveries.
You need to play him as he is designed, long range shooting and make use of artillery (thats actually a cluster bomb from a plane)
