Arty issues

(pliableBreadstick) #1

Hi guys.
Just wanted to hear your opinion on the topic Arty . !!!
I believe that Arty is underestimated by many players .
But one must also say that it is simply not as strong as for example skyhammer. What would you do for suggestions on how to improve Arty .
What if the Airstrike turns into an Indoor ability?
Or similar?
Just let your imagination flow;)

IMO Arty is way stronger than Skyhammer:
-Burst fire rifles are THAT good
-Due to the more “spammy nature”, artillery will do better at defending c4 objectives and blowing healing stations like flies
-Two well placed artillery strikes will disable an EV
Arty is just in great spot right now, IMO we can afford to leave his ability useless indoor.

The issue with arty is his mechanic used to call in airstrikes. The second you get shot at his airstrike cancels which is a major issue, fix that and he will be a very competitive merc.

He’s pretty good now, he has a high skill ceiling. Learn how to call in strikes effectively, flanking is a good idea with Arty.

Aimpunch strikes again making the game less fun for everyone.

Once you learn the areas on a map to use an artillery strike effectively he’s ridiculously good. His main issue is that he isn’t easy to use out of the gate due to how many issues you’ll have while learning where to call down effective strikes. And you might be under the assumption that the burst rifles are not that good (they are amazing). Once you get over those hurdles he becomes one of the best fire supports in the game.

I think his artillery strike warnings need to be less obvious - it’s so easy to see them coming and just move out the way without taking any damage. Sure, forcing your opponent to move out of the way is possibly going to expose them by making them leave their cover, but they just move straight back into cover afterwards, so you only get about half a second of them exposed. (That’s why if I’m using Arty I do two strikes in the same place one after the other - they run away from the first one, then run back in and get dumped).

But yeah, if the little red ‘marker’ on the ground were less obvious it’d make Arty a bit more effective.

Plus I think his cooldown takes a little bit too long but that’s just me.

I play Arty a lot compared to Skyhammer and I tried mixing things up a bit. I was really irritated in Chapel because I couldn’t damage the EV the moment someone repairs it. His weapons are also pretty powerful/

I’ve switched from using Skyhammer to Arty because his artillery can be used more often, as stated above. I’m kind of neurotic when it comes to high-cooldown abilities, so I can use Arty without worrying so much about whether I’ll have a strike ready when I need it.

Incorrect, it takes 3. Arty is still my favorite fire support though.

The only downside to Arty is being indoors. At that point you’re just stuck with throwing ammo packs as an ability. However, outside, or even indoors with open ceilings, he’s amazing.

You can destroy secondary objectives with ease, push mercs out from cover, defend C4, destroy stations, eliminate smoke/fire, etc. Also, if you call in an airstrike where someone is essentially “camping,” and then call in another one close by, where you predict they’ll run to if they see it, you’ll get them almost every time. When you do this quick enough, the heavier mercs generally have no time to escape and the faster mercs get distracted by it and end up getting picked off by your team.

I love Arty and his Dreiss! Gonna try out the Stark soon as I know I already like the BR16.
