artifacts in my level

ok so my pc nearly blew up. and i had to install everything again and ask my friend for my incomplete map, so i test it and i get freaking artifacts on some open spaces of my level. first it was pretty bad so i loaded radar and it was artifacting too! so i took my vidcard and flushed it down the toilet. i went right out and spent 70 bucks on a new vid card with 256vid, and when i come back radar is fixed but my map still artifacts!!! wth? i can see through some of the walls in open spaces when playing or soem of the hidden level geometry shows, any of you had this problem? does it have to do with reinstalling windows and et? it shouldnt. how do i fix this_??? thanks

i also noticed how maps look diferent when they´re put inside pk3´s and loaded without svpure 0 or devmap, why is this, i havent tried using a pk3 yet

i have a way of answering my own questions. the artifacts were caused by… well i have no idea, but the good news is i put the map in a pk3 and all the related problems disapeard

no not fixed, even in pk3 my map artifacts all over when i try to plant a dyno, whats wrong? im thinking it has something to do with my whole map being detail and not havin any hint brushes

Your statements conflict…how can you have “hidden level geometry” when your entire map is detail ? (unless you mean this by seeing past missing walls) …either way, not enough real information to understand you IMO.

…if you are new to mapping, please read a few tutorials from the sticky thread.

i mean some walls go invisible and i can see throuhg, that´s what i mean by hidden geometry, maybe i used the term incorrectly.

not only that but when i plant a dinamyte i can see through the floor down to a tunnel that´s below my map

Try a brush cleanup on the map.

turns out it was a driver problem, i was about to kick the guy who sold me the geforce in the face :smiley:
