ARs are pain to use.

I have played with ARs since I got the game and tried to practice my aim and control the recoil but it just seems that the recoil is impossible to tame. Controlled bursts work as long as the gun does not recoil at all at first, after that it gets out of hand suddenly aiming at the walls.

I do like games with recoil but Brinks recoil is very much different as usually, it does not recoil on every shot but only after a random amount of shots. Before that there does not seem to be any recoil at all. So how can I predict how many shots I can shoot before my gun starts to kick to random directions? Really hurts iron sighting/scoping combined with the slow accuracy recovery and I know I could just shoot semi-auto but then I would not get enough damage out of it.

So I have pretty much given up with ARs and started to use the Carb-9 which not only is more powerful but also so much easier to control. It seems that I can shoot even further distance with the SMG bullets still landing on the target than with ARs. I think the SMG does more damage on distant targets with full auto than ARs with burst firing.

Also the AR accuracy when hip firing is just horrible, which makes them totally useless in close range. Using iron sights always just does not work because it drops my mouse sens and I cant track a fast moving target close (I am a low sens player).

Feel free to tell L2P but please justify. :frowning:

I have to say, I love the Euston, which does do a little more damage than the Carb-9.

I was so disappointed when I realised you can’t use it with a Light body. Don’t see why, it’s harder to use, should be rewarded for using it. Light with Euston (L) damn it I want it!

Try different combinations of weapon attachments and as you mentioned, try controlled bursts.

When I first started playing BRINK I honestly thought that only a small number of weapons were “any good” (at least for me), but the longer I’ve played and the more I’ve experimented with attachments and play styles, the more I’ve found a use for almost every weapon in the game. Almost.

Also remember that with the various combinations/choices available, there should be something there to suit everyone’s play style - but it doesn’t necessarily mean that every weapon (or weapon type) will suit every player…

Hmm, I always take the Rhet, and outfit it with drum magazines, a scope and a grenade launcher. I usually just use it like its an MG. Its pretty awesome, it turns the medium type into a powerhouse.

The damage difference between Carb and Euston is barely noticeable (according to wiki Carb does 23 per shot and Euston 25, same firerate). To be honest Carb overdamages Euston in most situations because most of the shots hit while Euston tends to miss alot and bursting reduces damage per second.

I too have tried many AR attachment combinations (always using muzzle breaks) but even with the most stability giving attachments the recoil still hurts. I just cant see a good enough reason to use AR over SMG, on top of that SMGs also have more ammo deserved.

@Krallis I might want to try that out, used the Rhett the least.

This, But with grip.

(Krallis) #7

I put on the GL because if im using it like an MG and I come across a big group I can either fire one grenade and a few shots, or empty almost the whole magazine. Seen as how the bigger mags limit the ammo available for reload severely.

(SinDonor) #8

Yep. It is nice to turn a corner into a bunch of baddies, GL them onto their butts, then mop 'em up with the full-auto, drum mag’d AR.

(felismenari) #9

In my opinion, right now the only automatic AR worth using is the Gerund. It’s the most accurate while ADS, and does good damage (30). The Euston does 25, while the Rhett deals 32. It also comes with the largest mag capacity and spare ammo reserves among ARs. The Euston doesn’t even behave like a proper AR. It’s a beefy SMG, but with much less ammo. The Rhett, while not bad, lacks the accuracy to make up for it’s lower ammo count.

(dazman76) #10

Gerund all the way for me - front grip and drum mag, and improved irons  I find it nicely accurate, pretty effective from the hip, and it seems to have enough oomph per burst before it recoils too badly. I honestly haven’t tried many more AR’s, but I’m pretty comfortable with the Gerund

(Kurnuttaja) #11

I personally dont like the drum mag because it reduces accuracy and stability = more recoil especially noticeable when iron sighting.

Btw guys, would you like the recoil better if it would be only upwards on each shot increasing by the amount of shots shot on auto?

(felismenari) #12

Agreed. My Gerund has a red dot sight, muzzle brake, and an underbarrel grenade launcher attached. Don’t need my accuracy dipping any lower since the GL already brings it down a bit. If I wasn’t playing as a soldier nearly the entire time, I’d put the grip back on.

(iezza) #13

Before i forget, crouching with the Gerund and d-flex is amazingly accurate, dont ADS tho, just look at the size of that reticule, yeah i do use Gl but it affects stability a fair amount.

(pelisilma) #14

If i by some weird reason happen to play with medium then Gerund AR with C-U-Gone red dot, High-Capacity mag and front grip and maybe muzzle brake + smg. At decent range and with flat map you can pretty much pop only headshots with this

FG42 btw…

(Breo) #15

Did you tried the muzzle brake with the front grip?

(Wepohn) #16

Hey, so can I get my damn Euston for light!? nobody else wants it!

(iezza) #17

I can tell you a glitch to get it for your light, want a PM ? its not hard.

(Coolaguy) #18

To the OP, if you aren’t using a Grenade Launcher on your Assault Rifle, then you aren’t taking full advantage of the firepower at your disposal.

Often, all it takes is a couple shots to finish them off after you’ve put a Grenade into your opponent first. For this purpose, the burst fire of the Assault Rifles (Gerrund and Rhett) are idea.

Fixed. NEVER put rapid fire on rockstedi , it Makes it way too unstable, that ur pauses will be the same as the normal pause.

(Wepohn) #20

Heh, thanks for the PM, I’ll try it out soon. I’m not sure why I was talking about the Euston, I meant the Gerund. I like the way it acts, feels balances and kills are more satisfying.

Anyway, in game the Gerund has a lower damage rating than the Euston but according to Brink wiki the Gerund does 30 and the Euston 25.

So! change that, I want a Gerund

Always thought that light could use it legit as it’s equipped during the Parkour this challenge.
