Are you satisfied with the fine tuning patch?

You run at the same speed with pistols so not even that, melee has no literal use now, not even for finishing players in the heat of combat.
Not true, melee is faster.
I’ve done the testing in game before, and the “official” (probably not) wiki even states the speed modifiers, all the modifiers are the same for melee/pistols (well not the Katana and Cricket bat now).
I guess you’re right now that I’ve looked closer in game, the knife just feels faster.

That much is true, does feel faster.

Why are we turning down the accuracy? I hope we don’t descend into COD gunplay.

Edit:I guess it’d be more accurate to call it precision.

(WinterShade) #24

Personally I find the accuracy there to be quite desirable but that just may be me, and so far I haven’t seen a noticeable difference with my Crotzni but could be my imagination, maybe this comment is my imagination, who knows.

(Harlot) #25

Accuracy should not be adjusted, as stated by many. SMGs can be nerfed by other means, ideally ranged dropped off or headshot modifier.

The melee turn cap is a complete garbage bandaid fix that now makes knifing downed players a chore and a liability. Should just make the Katana have a shorter period to inflict damage instead of this rubbage of a “fix”. How the hell did this get through QA? Why is it every patch we find ourselves asking “How did this get through QA?”

Aim punch needs to go completely. Whoever has such a hard-on for it should be released and should sign on for the next COD.

Forcing players to play Competitive when you know the gamemode is broken and absolute trash is a slap in the face. Just another mission I’ll be throwing away.

There’s a lot of good. The actual Phantom nerfs were nice as was toning down aim punch. But why does it seem that Splash Damage is just throwing shit against the wall and seeing what sticks each patch? Why is it so hard to see what the community wants as a whole and implement that? I don’t even use the Crotzni, but nobody was complaining about it. Nobody was saying “Man…this game would be perfect if new players could slap my aim around with SMG body shots.”

Splash Damage, it’s time to decide whether you want to keep your current players and continue going the route we were promised in closed beta, or if you want to alienate them, start over and bring in a more casual player base. But you cannot have both. Sitting on the fence will cause you to lose everybody.

That was the most popular playstyle for Phantom, I did something like that every once in awhile but generally I would swoop in, kill a squishy target or two, swoop out and return to my team and shoot from there, but with the turn limiter it’s not really viable anymore.
I was playing him as a flanker/harassment sorta guy with a Blish loadout. Pop in whittle people down while the team hit them from the front and I’d bait them into chasing me. Now people seem to have a far easier time spotting me and the increased noise from the cloak doesn’t help. Kinda sad it went this way instead of just forcing people to adapt and pay better attention.

Being a phantom player obviously I’ll go for the “force people to adapt” especially considering while moving he’s extremely easy to see (pre and even more so post nerf) but I do have to say that there was some balance needed in there, nothing along the lines of movement speed as that is what allows him to flank and do some chasing however a health nerf (maybe down to 100) was definitely in order.

(frzn) #28

This new mission system tells me what character to play, in what game mode, and what to do while I play. I will not be playing the game until it changes. I’m not saying that to sound dramatic, I just don’t enjoy the game under these restrictions.

(Ghosthree3) #29

Overall I’m happy. Love all the fixes, love the Sparks nerfs so much that I came, love the removal of Win condition missions.

What I dislike:

 • Phantom over nerfed. I don’t care what anyone says I think he’s trash now. I didn’t have a problem with him before but agreed with some nerfs coming his way. They’ve gone so overboard now though that he’s just going to be destroyed in every situation that isn’t him sitting at a corner waiting for people to show up.
 • Smg spread nerfs. I knew the KEK had a nerf coming but I think this may have been the wrong way to go about it. The Crotzni nerf was completely out of the blue and I feel is an indirect nerf to Sawbones. They should have added more fall off and/or slightly reduced damage per bullet. Not this shit.
 • Turn speed nerf was dumb, they should have just made the animation frames that deal damage 90% shorter so you could still redirect your aim but the actual hit had to be dead on on time.
 • Heavy melee weapon run speed nerf. Why? Ew.

Things I’m in the middle about or just don’t care:

 • Fletcher sticky pickup nerf. Doesn’t really matter, all it let him do is pick up his trap and move forward to redeploy it, didn’t affect the game that much I feel.
 • K-121 buff. Awesome, but Unshakable just can’t be replaced to be honest.
 • Config clamps. We needed some of the functionality removed because removing particles was dumb. But how well this was implemented I don’t know yet.
 • Matchmaking skill match improvements. Meh, there’s so many bigger issues in MM right now that I really think this ranks on the bottom of the list.
 • Everything else I didn’t mention or can’t remember.

YES IM SATISFIED CUZ NOW ITS NOT A JOKE GAME ANYMORE LIKE IT USED TO BE WHEN PHANTOM WAS FUCKING EVERYONE INGAME

(ludicrousBlast) #31

I don’t like how the mission system forces you to play as a certain merc in a certain gamemode, I don’t like how useless melee is now, especially the cricket bat, I don’t like how they completely ignored fletchers disappearing sticky bombs and lock on augment, and the more visible phantom is just stupid. He is a stealth class. I DO like how they fixed a lot of the useless augments, and I am running at a solid 60 frames rather than 25 at low settings, which is a BIG improvement.

(cornJester) #32

@ludicrousBlast You do not have to play a certain merc. Just like before you only need to have them in your squad and then earn that type of exp. They basically just combined the support/game mode exp missions with your merc missions for example.

(WinterShade) #33

It doesn’t force you to play a specific merc it just requires you to have them in your squad, I had one for 9K total XP with Skyhammer and I got that all through Kira in one game.

(umberInlet) #34

That melee attack change where you can’t move your camera while attacking is pissing me off at this point. I can’t use knives well anymore in close quarter combat like I used to Scratch that, knives are UNUSABLE in close quarter combat now, and it’s even a pain just to finish off players with the light attack. Very clunky now, and it does not fit in a fast-paced game where you may be getting shot at while trying to knife a downed player.

Phantom’s nerf to his detectability was uncalled for; it would’ve been better to reduce the hit points of his armour instead. Movement speed for Katana doesn’t seem necessary. He’ll probably still be able to catch up to you in time if your walking with your primary out. Either that or increase is speed by a bit to compensate for his hp nerf.

Chopper nerf ticks me off a lot as well, as it makes the Stiletto useless for me to use. Basically it made it’s heavy attack unable to kill mercs w/ 100 hp anymore, so you’re better off with the Bekhill.

Everything else is fine.

(Ylla) #35

I joined only because this patch was a bit too awful…
-Phantom was so overnerfed, you might as well remove him from the game entirely. How about you bring him back to the design table? Maybe being invisible doesnt fit Dirty Bomb, maybe he cant still be a samurai or something.
-Melee has become useless, which is really strange, i thought it was working as expected, now we cant even execute downed players, or even fight, and the nerf to move speed makes no sense to me. Just remove this feature please.
-I can get why the Crotzni and the KeK were nerfed, so im ok with that, i feel like it was more of an indirect nerf to Sawbonez and maybe Nader (and incidentally Phantom).
-Reduced flinch from getting shot is good and i like it.
-Im also happy with the new visual features (at least we can now see the true range of Skyhammer’s artillery) and my performance is still very good, and i have an AMD processor.
-I thought Sparks needed slight tweaks, but not flat out nerfs, shes already the worst medic (now i can just shot the people thats getting revived anyway), there was no point in nerfing the EV damage for instance.
-Also Arty still needs some tweaks, his ability is so sluggish and takes way to much time to activate (specially because it requires you to stand still), also you cant aim directly at the EV, and he has no backup ability for corridors like Skyhammer does.

(NorthernStar) #36

I like the update. I feel as though the Phantom nerf was needed, but it could have been done differently, to some extent.

Actually, you can play as any merc as long as the one from the mission is in your loadout of mercs. So if you need to get 9,000 XP with Fletcher, as long as he is in your group of three, you can use any of the mercs you want.

(PonchoDaPig) #38

+1 before I found a config that made my fps lag go away I thought this game was meh and not really that good… but then after I got outc1ders config I loved this game and now my FPS lag is back to crap and so is my attitude on this game

“Clamped a number of video settings to address exploits, such as completely disabling particle effects”

are you serious!?!?!?!?! real competitive FPS’es have tons of settings u can optimize for competition, look at all the pros in Quake using 2D ammo pick ups and colorless walls and even ig macros, these kinds of things might give a slight advantage to the users but they are they are competitive necessities and give the maximum FPS and also ANY person who wants to do these things can while casuals can be amazed by flashy lights

For now I’m done w/ this game till I don’t FPS lag

(TheDoctorHax) #39

I don’t get what the big deal is with the explosions and muzzle flash being forced on. I never noticed them but at the same time don’t understand why they needed to be a forced thing. They definitely stress my 750 ti a little bit

(frzn) #40

That’s significantly better.
