Alright, so aimpunch was reduced in the recent patch, and it feels quite a bit better. However, it’s quite possible that this isn’t enough, or is too much. The last poll on the matter only had 2 options (like aimpunch/remove it), in light of this last patch I thought I should make a poll with more options.
Are you satisfied with post-patch aimpunch?
Would rather it was removed but don’t care too strongly about it. It seems the devs want there to be some form of aimpunch in the game, the lower impact it has the better.
Also known as flinch, it makes your crosshair jump upwards when you are shot (and unlike what some people think, bullets follow the crosshair, it is not purely visual), throwing off your aim.
Yet you voted to increase it?
Holy shit how do you even function with a brain like that

I had an idea what it was, and tbh, what is even the big deal? Do you guys really get affected by it that much? I’ve never thought someone messed up my aim because of getting shot

Good players notice it more (I hardly notice it I’m bad) tbh

If good players are good, they would automatically compensate whilst being shot. Which is what I do, which is probably why I never notice it.
Should be more of powerful effect

So much hate for my opinion on a public poll.
Grow up kiddies, it’s what I believe should happen, if you didn’t want someone voting for that option, then maybe it shouldn’t of been added.

it’s fine to vote for that option, but when you vote for it and say “i dont even know what I’m voting for”, that’s another matter entirely.

Now that I know what I voted for, my vote still does not change. So why does it even matter in the first place?

No, we do want people voting for that opinion if they actually knew what they were voting for- that way you can get an actual representation. If someone comes along and says they want it increased and knows exactly what it is, granted they’re a complete wasteman but at the end of the day at least they know what they’re voting for…
So far the votes are by a kiddie that doesn’t know what it is and this:
I understand the concept behind aimpuch/viewkick, but I don’t think this was the way to go about it. It does currently punish players with good aim more so than players with bad aim.
For my 2 cents, an advantage could be achieved via a damage bonus to players who shoot opponents in the back or the side, say, for the first 3(potential) hits. If you hit all 3(good aim) then you have a distinct HP advantage. If you hit 1 or 2(mediocre aim) you get a slight advantage for catching someone off-guard.
There can be other circumstantial factors, like whether or not the opponent has been in combat in the past 5 seconds, things like that.

I’m trying my hardest to think of a single reason for having aimpunch in the game, and I’m drawing blank here.
I thought that maybe they have it in the game, for merc balancing reasons, so that light mercs would have a slightly better fighting chance vs the heavy ones, maybe?
But when I consider it more thoroughly, I’d really just prefer to be able to aim properly, instead of hoping to offset the aim of my enemies, by a mechanic, that boils down to randomness.
The only other reason I can think of, is “immersion”, which should always be a relatively low priority in a game that aims to be a competitive multiplayer shooter.
Even if immersion was the reason, then the flinch could be purely visual, with no effect on the crosshair.
Aimpunch is BS, and I still haven’t seen any proper reasoning to support keeping it in the game.
What is even aimpunch!?
Look at the 1st 15 seconds of this.
I was fine with aimpunch before.
I’m fine with aimpunch now.
You guys still act like it makes it impossible to aim. It doesn’t. At all.
I am wary of removing it when we have no idea what that will do for game pace and balance. I do not think Splash Damage would put this mechanic into the game simply to troll you.
