are there any meaningful stats on the stat site?

(wolfnemesis75) #21

If you click on the map it tells you how many Kills your team had and which team won the match and how you compared to the rest of your team. Cool!
Average exp earned per game is the best indicator of skill or improvement in Brink, period. K/D has zero bearing on whether you are improving or are good at the game. If you write down your own deaths you can calculate your own K/D…but a high K/D and I’d be nervous if you are on my team. Especially if you’re a Medic. I’d be like: “Where the hell is the ****ing Medic?” Oh, he’s off somewhere killing fools while I am getting **** completing objectives and helping teammates.
High xp says nothing about skill. One medic can be reviving his spawnraped team over and over and end up with the highest score. Spam use button - 0 skill involved.

On the other hand you could have a medic with much less xp but he’s been kicking ass the whole game allowing his newblets to escort the hostage.

I’m sure you’d disagree though since your idea of “skill” seems to be different from mine.

I just find it amusing that I have to turn my pc on to view my 360 stats. I mean what is all that about seriously?
Are pc players going to have to turn their consoles on to view theirs just to balance things out

(FrankieGodskin) #24

Medic A. You see, the reason Medic A has so few revives is because he’s killing opponents, making the game safer for his teammates, so there’s less people to revive.

(fearlessfox) #25

Everything is meaningful when correlated. This means against a players in-game performance, as well.

(Jess Alon) #26

Tried the Gerund today. Rhett is WAY better. You just have to burst fire it a tiny bit.

Um. They don’t have consoles most likely. Your ironic joke fails.

I think his point was why can’t he see the stats using the platform on which he plays the game.
Ever play halo? Well in halo(Many FPS Games) there are gamers who will quit to save K/D.

The logic is:

If i start the match off with 2 kills then I am off to a good start I have room to play. If I die right away 2 times in a row at the start of a match, now I am in a hole so I will need to get 2 kills just to break even; so its better to quit so those 2 deaths don’t count.

Ok, in this match I just ran off a streak of 5 kills in a row and I will stick around because I am +5 right now…

rinse and repeat=awesome K/D but a sorry player and a terrible team mate. But this same player will let the world know how good their K/D is.

This is the thought process that would destroy a game like Brink. Sorry, but I am sure that other’s have experienced this kind of k/d player online.
Listen I dont give a **** about CoD, Halo and all those trash console games.
Those players from those communities left the game (Brink) in the first days.

The majority of people who play to this day are people from RTCW, W:ET, ET:QW, TF, and older communities were teamwork is key. KD wont change my approach to the game. You cant generalize such crap.

W:ET was a superior version of Brink and it did fine with KD. Have you even played W:ET or QW?

In reply to what the TC actually meant [which is nothing really to do with the K/D ratio - so find a different thread], I completely agree. The stats as they are, are cumulative. They are quite meaningless - because ‘per match’ stats are much more important than total stats. It shows off nothing have 20,000 revives for example because that just shows that i’ve played a lot. However, having 10 revives per match shows whether, as a medic, I am playing the game as it ought to be played.

It needs tweaking.

(Smokeskin) #31

I don’t understand why they don’t track win/loss ratio. That is THE meaningful stat.

(wolfnemesis75) #32

If you click on the map name in the recent games played it show who won. Other than that, it doesn’t show W/L

(FrankieGodskin) #33

Have you checked out the weapon stats yet?

The Rhett does slightly more damage than the Gerund, but the Gerund is FAR more accurate. Burst the Gerund, aim for the chest, win.

(legend123) #34

Its as meaningful as any other stat (very little). I join dozens of servers where the teams are lopsided because one team doesnt know how to shoot + revive + push in.
Then you have the retarded bots which throws the balance of on some servers.

(V1cK_dB) #35

Exactly. Some dude earlier said if a player goes 12 - 65 does that make them a bad player…my answer is hell yeah! I mean seriously? I will take a medic who sticks with the team and kills people then revives teammates vs a medic who waits for you to die only to revive you and not clear the room of the enemy before he does it. There are some terrible medics out there.

(iezza) #36

K/D is pointless due to the amount of headless chickens(i.e Bots and 12 year olds) playing the game.

(Herandar) #37

You’re 15, iezza, right?

(Breo) #38

The Brink reward system/leaderboard is based on teamplay and experience points.
As for the kills, isn’t it better to change it for “hit points”, because it makes no sense without deaths.

Recoil accumulates much slower on the Rhett though.

i disagree that this community would hold K/D as your most important stat like other games. if some troll came onto these forums and even mentioned his k/d ratio they would get flamed so fast. if anyone even mentions k/d everyone gets there panties in a bunch. i wish i hadnt even mentioned it because i honestly think it would be a minor stat but nice to know in conjunction with other stats. for example if i avg 8000xp 30 revives and 2.5 k/d and 2 objectives then i am a beast. unfortunately avg xp is the only stat that is on there.

avg xp is a good stat but i dont play for xp. i play to win and there isnt any W/L. alot of times i know i can switch class and get the objective but if i stay medic and buff/revive till we lose i would get more xp and boost my stats and look like a better player under this stat system. xp is not everything, no stat is everything, even W/L. that is why i would like to see more than just avg xp.

there are alot of people who do play only for xp and it isnt always helpful to win the game and i think that is a problem since they use up their supplies as fast as possible then die intentionally to rinse and repeat and pay no attention to trying to push forward or take any objective or shoot someone because the only stat that is valued here is xp which can be boosted just like any other stat

i honestly dont care that much about k/d i would just like to see more than just avg xp. MOST IMPORTANTLY WIN/LOSS on each map
