Are the weapon stats accurate?

Are the weapon stats accurate?

I was looking at H0RSE’s Info compendium weapon info and it appears to me that all the SMG’s have the same stats, except for magazine capacity of the Galactic SMG

Stats page:

HORSE’s Info compendium

http://www.splashdamage.com/forums/showthread.php?t=21998

The assault rifles, grenade launcher, mini-gun all have different stats.

I know of course it will probably change by the release of the game, I was just interested in how the Bulpdaun SMG compares to the rest.

(Personally I hate these bar graphs. Numerical scales are far easier to understand)

Thanks.

I’d expect weapons and other things to be balanced and tweaked even after release.

Even if they are still the imprecise bar graphs upon release, I expect you’ll be able to find the base weapon numbers online.

For future reference: Brink Weapon Stats

Ah, you beat me to it. I was totally going to post that denkirson link. I was pretty happy when I saw that he was planning to give us Brink stats when it comes out.

Ah, thank God, I love those kind of weapon stats. They’re very illuminating.

My love of stats may explain why I love my wife, who’s a marketing research manager and spends all day looking at stats and checking numbers.

Thanks.

It might be only imagination but I’m pretty sure I see some small differences in the other stats. :stroggbanana:

I would be fine with that, even small differences can feel way different.

Does anybody know what the difference between Accuracy and Stability is exactly?
(ARs have a higher Accuracy than Stability, for the SMGs it’s the other way arround)

PS: It’s certainly better than CoD where the bars show differences that aren’t there.

I did an article where I focused on stat changes in weapons, based off info from the “Choir of Guns” video - http://www.fragworld.org/frag/brink/brink-a-choir-of-guns-analyzed.html

(tokamak) #8

No.

They’re from waaay before any balancing happened.

HORSE-Thanks for the article, though the firearm I’m mainly interested in is the Bulpdaun SMG and how it stacks up.

Am I the only one who wishes all the gun attributes were the same and it was just a cosmetic change? Yes? Oh well…

(LyndonL) #11

How boring that would be. Let’s all look the same and only have one class too. That will teach people for trying to play differently!

Ja! You must conform!

(master[mind]) #12

Usually the subtle differences just give the weapon’s a small difference of feel. After trying all of them, I have a feeling we’ll all find our favorite choice, with people constantly informing us of the lack of difference. :stuck_out_tongue:

(SockDog) #13

I’m still not entirely sold on having 101 variations of the same gun that don’t actually vary to any great degree. Seems like a lot of choice for the sake of choice, an illusion of depth, a distraction.

From the updated Choir of Guns stats it’s going to be interesting with such high capacity magazines in the SMG’s (67 round magazine for the Galactic SMG and 60 for the CARB-9)

That’s almost to Beta C-Mag/light machine gun levels

You’ll be sacrificing something probably fairly significant for those extra large mags. Load time, equip time, etc.

(Herandar) #16

Why that particular gun?

(H0RSE) #17

probably for its unique look.

(Bullveyr) #18

Looking at the stats the bigger mags have a negative affect on reload and/or equip speed and probably also on accuracy/stability
Grip increases stability but has no affect on accuracy.
Silencer decreases damage.
Muzzle Break decreases damage but I don’t have a clue about the benefit.

I wonder if there are only different mags or also different ammunition like for example some kind of “head busters” with lower base damage but higher HS damage.

PS: Many Top Atachments (Scopes), at least for the Drognav Light Rifle

Ammo is probably handled by Soldiers.

(Bullveyr) #20

Hm, I doubt that.

Afaik the engineer can buff your weapon/damage and the the soldier gives you extra ammo.

A comrad giving you some extra benefit is different from choosing a different kind of ammo with its pros and cons.
A soldier affecting your gun also in a negative way doesn’t sound right to me.
