Are mumble crosshairs going to be permanently allowed?

(doxjq) #1

I know they’re allowed at the moment, but is this temporary while the game is in beta with limited crosshairs available, or is it permanently allowed?

I’ve started using mumble crosshairs lately, and I do find it a great advantage on a variety of guns. Mainly guns that only have iron sights with good long distance range and not so much on guns that have fairly visible scopes or guns that don’t require zooming at all (shotguns etc)

BR-16, Grandeur, Sparks reviver - 3 perfect examples where I find the mumble crosshairs a great advantage. The grandeur particularly. Something about having a crosshair available while zoomed in is next level accurate, and although Sparks reviver has a white dot sight it is pretty hard to see, so this one is also a no brainer.

Stark, Bishlok, Machine pistols - 3 examples where I think the mumble crosshair makes virtually no difference. The stark and bishlok already have pretty visible scopes, and the machine pistols just don’t have enough range to warrant zooming in.

So basically I am just curious. I wasn’t sure on the devs actual stance on the mumble crosshairs. Personally I would like to always see them allowed. I just think certain guns like the grandeur will be useless without them, since they never plan on adding sight/scope attachments to the game, but I know some people already view them as cheating, so I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re a bannable offense some day.

I hope so. I enjoy having a crosshair while Iron-sighted.

(Supa) #3

Especially considering how misaligned some of the ironsights are.

(LifeupOmega) #4

Well until they fix the issue of:-

  • Misaligned default crosshairs
  • No outline options
  • Lack of crosshair options

Then I don’t see why we shouldn’t be allowed to.

(Amerika) #5

Yeah, I personally have no problem with them and I doubt SD has much of one either. Especially with the lack of options that the game has in this department. Of course I barely use a crosshair when I play so I don’t really have a dog in this show.

For me personally until the crosshair is properly centered, and the dot actually looks like a dot and not a fucking square when it’s reduced in size, I’ll keep using a mumble crosshair.

(SteelMailbox) #7

Oh look another thread full of people who can use their mumble crosshairs and here I am suffering with a dot and misaligned iron sights…

(doxjq) #8

Why can’t you use mumble crosshairs as well?

(LifeupOmega) #9

Does it just not work for you for some reason? Link for anyone who wants overlay btw.

(XavienX) #10

I know how it could be considered “cheating” like how some past config graphics were banned for a reason since it gave too big of an advantage. But currently I think it’s fine until they release custom crosshairs that can be used during ADS moments as well.

(HunterAssassin5) #11

a ring crosshair paired with the default full crosshair looks great btw.

(doxjq) #12

I made my own circle xhair in paint. It’s absolutely great for Sparks. Seems to fit peoples heads perfectly lol.

(watsyurdeal) #13

Honestly I don’t get how that makes it cheating

It’s no more an unfair advantage than a good, well made mouse with a good sensor and ideal shape, or a good set of headphones with enough sound stage to hear footsteps over the bitching of your enemies.

These things may improve your consistency and efficieny, but the keyword is improve, meaning you are still doing all the work.

Cheating in my mind is where you let the computer do all the work for you, wall hacks, aim botting, trigger botting, etc.

That’s cheating, this is not even remotely close, not even in a microscopic sense.

(Amerika) #14

Heh, I have a crosshair but I use the crossbar that is headed down to line up shots. I dislike anything large covering up the head area and instead use the crossbar to center on the body.

(SnakekillerX) #15

While I don’t use the overlay, I don’t care much either way about it.

Some games however go as far as to remove crosshairs entirely in hardcore modes, so using something like this in that circumstance would be like cheating I’d say as you giving yourself an advantage over other players, one you are clearly not meant to have.

It is still a little bit unfair if you think about it when it comes to aiming down sights in DB though, but I doubt anyone in DB will care about this given how people are posting about it.

Custom crosshairs would actually be a pretty nice feature for the game. Could have one for hipfire, and one for ADS.

The best part about the mumble overlays crosshairs are, that they stay while you ADS and you get alot better visibility and don’t have to deal with the misaligned iron sights.

(Floross) #17

I hope they do provide an in game fix for ads as not everyone is savvy enough to use mumble overlay.
