ArchAngel Merc Idea

(NuclearCats) #1

This is a remake of my previous merc Idea, I have it in a merc role call form. (yw SD)

Offence/Sniper

Basic Stats:
Health:105
Speed:405

Now Hiring ArchAngel, The genius Crossbowman with a knack for tech

Primary Ability:
ArchAngel’s primary ability is the SA-RCAC (Specialized All-Range Compressed Air Crossbow), an Omni purpose rifle firing it’s bullets from molten metal.

Secondary ability:
ArchAngel’s Secondary ability is Configure, allowing him to change the SA-RCAC from it’s Sniper mode to Assault mode.

Sniper Mode:
With An 8 Shot clip, the SA-RCAC in sniper mode Is a force to be reckoned with. Exceling at a medium-Long range, it can easily end any weak merc’s day with 1 or 2 headshots. The 1.33 times scope fits with the weapon’s focus.

Each shot cools down in 3-5 seconds (your choice SD)
Each shot would do about 90 damage in a headshot
Each shot is a FAST MOVING projectile, not a hit scan

Assault mode:
Altering to a 35 Upward Magazine, each shot fires an Moderately accurate bullet that excels at a short range, with a set reload instead of a cool down, with each mag recovering in about 10 seconds, which is 2 seconds longer than it would take to expend a full mag on full auto. each shot will do about 3 damage

Full Auto alone is practically a death wish
The Reload is by opening the mag (mag is built in.)

Weapons:
His Stock Primary is the Anhuld-12
His other Primary’s are the other shotguns

His Stock Secondary is A new, Dual “Five-Seven” Variant. Low Accuracy, Long Reload, Low Damage, High capacity, Fast Fire rate
The other pistols are the M9 and the Selbadst’

Tactics:
Use ArchAngel as a more offensive sniper. He can defend himself from close range mercs with ease, try to attack with the sniper, staying at range all the time, when a merc tries to fight you, try to predict when they are too close to attack with the sniper mode on, and always be prepared to switch to assault mode when in trouble. doing full range sniping isn’t as practical with ArchAngel, as his sniper is not hit scan, but rather a projectile, meaning you have to lead your target a small bit instead.

Fight Back:
use a medium range hit scan weapon to counter his sniper, his low health and less than average speed make him an easy target for melee from behind if you can get there, and a longer sniper can out class him, and when he is attacking you from an extremely long range, be ready to dodge

Lore:
Before the Nuclear Bombing of London, ArchAngel was a World Renowned American Software and Robotic Engineer, designing both Industrial and Consumer Products for Cyber Space to Outer Space. When unveiling a revolutionary version of the new Autonomous Operating System, Called AutoS, He was targeted by a terrorist attack, crippling him in his right eye and arm. after 2 years, he had a replacement arm and eye made, and he augmented it to save his conscience, and have the compatibility for his brand new SA-RCAC Rifle, at the same time, the city of London was devastated by nuclear weapons, the CDA was set to clean up the mess, The Jackal Force deployed at the several sights of CDA recovery. when MercSERV was Created, He decided to join to use his new Crossbow Rifle. So he flew to London, and Signed up.

So you made a projectile-based version of Red-Eye with more damage and the ability to make close-range shotgun users such as proxy/aura cry when they can’t put out similar levels of damage.

Also, your ‘fight back’ is ‘be ready to dodge’ to avoid being annihilated at close range and ‘use a proper sniper to fight back’ at long range.

(NuclearCats) #3

what I mean is that the projectile nature of the weapon allows you to dodge the projectile, instead of a normal sniper.

the character is meant to be a more ranged offensive character, instead of the more close range LMG (Fragger & Thunder) or Large Damage Weapons (Rhino & Nader). I wanted to make a sniper infused with a offensive Merc. if SD decides to have the Merc implemented, they can tone down the damage for the close range form, so the close range merc have a chance. and I intended the close range version to entice people to group to counter him, as he can only fire at one person at a time.

again, the projectile nature.

He sounds really OP.
How about it only has a more power full sniper mode, but no assault mode…

(Fyrix) #5

Not really a fan of the mercenary or the loadout in all honesty. I can’t ever imagine this in-game. Just doesn’t make sense to me.

I guess that the assault mode could be just an assault rifle as a primary. I would change the primaries to the Anhuld-12, the M4A1, and the TIMKIK-47

What do you mean, can you elaborate so I can make this merc as balanced and fun to play as posible

(Dysfnal) #7

A compound now would be cool, but so is the air powered bow. I also don’t like to steal ideas from other games, but we don’t have a merc with similar mechanics to the COD explosive crossbow, that could be useful

(NuclearCats) #8

what I had in mind for the weapon is a crossbow or normal bow, that allows fast firing due to a compressed air chamber in the weapon.

(while writing this post I had inspiration.)
imagine if the weapon was a bow, and it had a stock and a trigger like a normal rifle, and the power source would be a vacuum that when the air is removed, it would suck in the strings on the bow, launching the projectile. like a fusion of the SA-RCAC (wouldn’t have the assault mode), a bow, and a conventional gun. tell me if this should be the ability, and the secondary should be an AOE slow effect.

(Naonna) #9

ignoring most of that post, the ‘aoe slow’ isn’t a bad idea, so long as it doesn’t change the mouse sensitivity of those within it. Wall jumping somewhat mitigates a slow effect, however, as seen with Thunder’s pre-buff flash bang.
