Appaling state of the EU servers

(Lumi) #1

I can’t speak for other regions, but it started slowly getting worse before the update but this week it has been a full blown server disaster. Lag spikes, teleports (both me and others), hit detection being in the frits, losing connection to servers, etc…

Is it just me or do the servers require a proper maintenance? It can’t be that bad with 40ping. Also, DB is the only server based game I know that doesn’t have periodic maintenances of their servers… Maybe something to look into.

(Yes) #2

AUS servers die pretty frequently as well.

(Lumi) #3

It can’t be normal though. Just seems like the game is running on cheap charter servers…

(Jostabeere) #4

Only Execution from time to time. Both other modes are as stable as always for me.

Over the weekend US servers kept dying over and over again. I was playing on Scarfino’s stream with a bunch of people and during that night a server crashed 5 or 6 times. We all still had voice coms until we were all finally booted but everything just froze in place. The server performance, however, was fine. No noticeable warping or latency issues that anybody noticed or commented on. Just the crashes.

(Tayski) #6

haven’t noticed any lags or connection issues on EU servers apart from the occasional ‘connection to server lost’ or a similar message.

(MissMurder) #7

Thanks for the info. Is this still happening to any of you frequently?

(yusayu) #8

Had another server crash not too long ago (maybe an hour?) on Europe. And there was no Stoker.

Recently I’ve noticed that there’s been lots of “connection lost” errors, random/weird FPS drops (mostly on the map, “Market,” and teleporting. The teleporting is the same kind you’d see with someone with a high ping (like 200+), however my ping is around 50 most of the time on the U.S. East Servers. Other players have also mentioned this being a recent problem in-game to me. I have even noticed some players teleporting as well.

For example, I was chasing down a phoenix, and noticed he was zooming to a new spot with a stuttering look, which is what the high-ping teleporting issues have always looked like. My ping as well as this person’s ping were both relatively low (mine being around 40 and his around 100).

Has anyone else noticed these issues since the last update? It doesn’t appear to be a personal computer issue. Most people in the games I join have complained about this as well. It’s not a HUGE problem, but sometimes ruins the chance for a win.

I lost the connection very often, and it also crashes

(Mister__Wiggles) #11

@MissMurder yeah, EU servers are in a pretty bad way as of now.

EU servers have been in a terrible state for at least a month now. Every update improves the situation slightly because servers gets a simple restart. But after 3-4 days, everything goes back to warps, lag spikes and crashes.

More recently it may have generated an overly generous hit-reg which I even noticed from my shooting client position, which is unexpected and totally unacceptable on the long run. I’m more doubtful if this clearly caused this, but it’s still the biggest culprit from my point of view.

UE3 servers absolutely require a restart at least every 2 days, after that they start to get messy and generate massive inconsistencies. And this is something I noticed on every UE3 games I played or maintained servers on.

Putting a regional daily server restart during low pop hours is a must and will solve this simply. No one will complain for a small service interruption between 4 and 7 am…

Only have connection problems on the US servers when I am in execution

(D'@athi) #14

Still some occasional lags here and there. Also Routing between your provider for the Amsterdam-servers (at least I guess that’s where these ones are located) and Deutsche Telekom is way off. 65-70 ping a server in “main”-europe is simply not acceptable, even the servers is London are only at about 45-50 ping.
On top of that, the two evenings I now played, again, I got more than just a few ppl with pings around 150, some even nearing 200, on the servers. Some of them naturally lagging/spawning/teleporting/whatever you call it, so beeing between hard and imposiible to hit.
To be honest, connection-wise, it gotten even worse than before, when I regulary played the game.

(chicHouse) #15

random disconnection or server crash? I think because of not enought memory or high cpu usage

(Lumi) #16

Today I joined a server that kicked me twice to the main menu for some error (didn’t specify which).

Yesterday I used quick join to play an execution and ended up in an American server with more than half the players being European too. How come that quick join doesn’t respect the region and even consistently puts EU region players in an American server if there were empty European servers?

(NxA_Noxie) #17

Hello everyone! Please let me know if these server issues are still happening. (Please tag me in ur post as well ;P)

(Xan) #18

same in asia

(AdmiralTeddy) #19

yes this, and the fact that max lvl 5 servers are letting higher level players in
also another problem, searching for matches is so inconsistent, it keeps canceling over and over (at least for execution anyway)

(B_Montiel) #20

@NxA_Noxie : We’ve already been mentioning those issues since a couple of weeks now. This is not a one time only problem, unless you get a crash. That’s more about the general quality provided by the servers which is truly below standards for a fast fps recently. Having warps or freeze every minute on a server could seem quite low priority and a duchess problem, but that’s truly annoying over time. Every friend I play with mention those issues “Woah, massive roll back here !” at least twice a game, if not worse because the hit-reg and anims get totally messed up by server not sending packets properly.

Can you at least tell us if there’s routinely scheduled full restart on servers right now ? That’d be the first big step onwards.

@chicHouse : If you talk about servers, then yes, this might be the case, but this is a break I always noticed on UE3 servers. So they’ won’t be able to easily solve this by getting more powerful servers, because it might be rooted deep in the UE3 binary code. In Chivalry, my clan used to run two servers for a long period of time. We changed provider once, to improve latency and tickrate mainly. Thus we received more powerful servers, but it only slowed down this messed up status slightly by a couple of hours.
