Apology

Dear players,

I have tonight - for the first and hopefully last time - just missed the first half of a public competitive match, because after readying up, my 3 year old son woke up with a coughing fit and needed settling and giving some medicine.
He’s normally a very good sleeper, so I wasn’t expecting to be interrupted like this tonight, and the result was a ruined game for those involved: so to all of you, I apologise.

However, I do not apologise to the one person on my team, whom I shall not name, who abused me on my return. I stand by what I said to you in game.

BTW, love the game

Sorry to hear players expressed toxicity towards you for afking in a competitive match. I can understand their frustration, but it’s a shame to hear none-the-less. Rudeness and bad attitudes are never warranted. All I can say is - carry on good sir/madam and I hope you have fun with the game! <3

It’s good to know that family comes first.

All good, and hope he gets better.

Now here’s a good player who values the teammates on the one true game we all play, life!

Hats off to you!

That’s a great attitude to have. Sure it’s a video game but that doesn’t mean there are no consequences to what you do in them, be it having to leave a match for good reasons or flaming people because of that.

I probably would’ve called you out too if you were afk for half the match, but if you explained with modesty I’ll accept it. In this case, you shall definitely be forgived

In situations like that it’s always best to take an extra few seconds and type something like, “AFK sick kid” or something along those lines. People might not be happy that you’re AFK but they will definitely understand and most likely won’t give you any flack over it. If you didn’t take those couple of seconds to type that, well, you deserve a bit of flack. Obviously take care of your kid first but make sure, when you can, to let people know. Good communication tends to resolve issues before they happen.
