Are there any plans to develop an API for Leagues, Tournaments etc.?
Is there a chance that services like ESL-Versus could replace a native Matchmaking system?

Altough the implementation is quite nice and its also convenient, i wouldnt be fond of it, mostly because the ESL promotes versus much over proper ladder playing which leads to more individual players but less teams.
please note that the vs is often really unbalanced and especially frustrating for newcomers, it can be still tricky for ppl who never played vs to launch a game, you will be insulted by the most players then sadly
A built in matchmaking/ladder/tournament system should be primary. There can be still the lousy esl api for some boring vs matches… my point of view. Additionally esl wire was long time buggy, and banned you EDIT: (from hour ban, actually up to month vs ban) because the program cancelled its upload or never initiated the upload… idk if its fixed now… there are still enough bugs, where matches dont initiate correctly api wise or server wise :S Just a little thing for the future…
You are both right. It was just an example of how this could be an befenit. ( I also see it very frustrating that most of the matches are quite unbalanced )
I see some problems in it, but:
Maybe this could lead to an good hand-in-hand for matches, shoutcasting etc. and special tournaments.
For example:
The ESL/Clanbase etc. launches a tournament with some nice prices -> Tournament gets promoted via. Dirty Bomb Launcher -> Easy Check In with your DB-Account -> 1-click for watching streams/matches etc.
Wouldn’t be a terrible idea but if there is a competitive match making system similar to what CSGO is using this would be not needed imo.
