Anyone still think the trade in system still isint worth it?

I’m at 5 gold now, and just got my first bronze towards my next gold (gunna take awhile I know) so I can trade up for my second cobalt.

Ive been tempted to trade in some golds to get a 383 sparks, but my logic is telling me this.

If I try it, I will only have 3 golds left with a very good chance of not getting the 383 loadout. A 1 in 9 chance minus 2 gold loadouts.

But if I wait till I have 6 golds and trade up for a cobalt, even if it isn’t the loadout I want the only thing left to do with it is trade it in with my other crappy cobalt that’s just sitting there and would never go anywhere anyway.

so instead of trading in my 6 golds for two chances of getting the loadout I wanted in gold, I wait a little longer and get a chance at cobalt I want two times instead?!?!?.

Come to think of it, even if the trade in was two for one in gold it still wouldn’t be worth the risk for me, but for a cobalt there is no risk, a bad cobalt loadout is just going to sit in my inventory.

But a bad gold can always have the chance at becoming a great cobalt.

5 golds are worth more than 1 cobalt if they have good loadouts.

Of course, I’m not going to trade in good golds!

EDIT: Unless I have the same loadout in cobalt :slight_smile:

The trade-in system has never made any sense. I would only ever trade in loadouts you will never conceivably use, starting with iron loadouts.

Money you spent on cases and trade costs are better spent to buy bronze loadouts in the store. Once you have all the loadouts you care for you can start to trade in, because at that point it doesn’t really matter.

For me, trade in is useless for anything below cobalt and too much of a gamble to use on cobalt. I’d rather sit on useless cobalts for the inevitable balance changes that make them viable than just throw them into the trade in feature and get something just as terrible back out.

Well I would trade-in only in situation 2 for 1 without any credit costs… You are already paying great amount of time and money put to get that loadout…

I mean you put 2 loadouts (without any fees)… get 1 of same rarity. (still not a good deal on cobalt, as one cobalt is worth pffff)

Did 2 cobalt trade ins and crap, only positive about the loadouts was that they were fragment

I traded in two terrible cobalts. And I mean terrible - Sawbonez with no healing-related augments and some Phantom crap I don’t even remember. I would never use them, I won’t wait to see if Steam market integration arrives (remember people, at this moment that’s an if, not when - only non-commital declarations on stream), and even then they’ll be pretty worthless. So if you look at it this way - it’s 24k for a random Cobalt for a merc of my choosing.

Trading in anything below Cobalt hasn’t changed and is still way too expensive.
Trading in even half-decent Cobalts - I would avise against that. Rebalancing on weapons and augments is being done - see Springy that is not terrible now.

I traded in a gold for aura, got a worse aura, the got the mercs I had alright golds for. Not worth it.

I’m too bitter since I feel the entire loadout system, let alone the trading component, is completely fucked.

I don’t like the current system but there’s no point in waiting.

They said they wouldn’t do a 1:1 Trade in so the only thing changing is the credit price, which I genuinely don’t care about. I mean does it matter whether you pay 24k or 5k for a trade in, if you lose a cobalt in the process ? once you have all the mercs, credits don’t matter that much anyways. I don’t have to see the shameless cobalt Arty I got in an equipment case every time I log in, so I might as well trade him in with my other useless Rhino from a free elite case to get a shot at a nice fletcher card.

This is all about cobalt trade ins only of course.
