Anyone interested in collaborating on map?

Here’s a graphic of what I was thinking of. The map would be ~6000 x 6000 units wide. I have prefabs for the ammo/rocket bunkers, launch pits, V2s … but I can’t make terrain worth a shit (to put it plainly)

Anyways, just a concept I’ve been playing around with

Just for clarification, I’m scoping out the project right now, trying to get a better sense for scale, gameflow, overall size of the map, VIS issues, etc before I actually start doing any real work.

The layout looks cool. Seems to be a nice mix between mp_assault and mp_base.

Only question I have is why are the axis attacking a V2 base?

well, there needs to be more maps where the axis are attacking but all the cool prefabs and models are axis soooo … As the allies relentlessly push the German frontline back, many of the V2 sites in France were simply overrun and captured. At one hidden V2 base, the allies are awaiting the arrival of a technical team who will take the rockets apart for technical analysis. A german commando team has been assembled to destroy the two remaining rockets before their secrets can fall into allied hands. How’s that?

 it works.

It always comes back to people wanting axis attacking maps, doesn’t it?
I admire it though, there aren’t many realistic scenarios where the axis attack.

If maps were played in objective or stopwatch mode, no one would care, but on 6+ map campaign servers, it just gets old attacking (and for the most part) beating your head against the wall for 3 hours. It would be nice to mix things up here and there.

as far as Axis offensive scenarios go, there are only couple that come to mind:

  • Early North Africa, before the Americans really picked up steam
  • The Battle of the Bulge
  • Any number of raids or spoiling attacks involving axis trying to destroy allied munitions, fuel, or equipment
  • Relief of encircled forces like Aachen

That’s about all I came up with

I learn to make easygen work in about 20mins, you could try that…

As it turns out, I will be working with M3. He’s started putting together the terrain box, we dropped in some prefabs to test out the scale, and we’ll be working on more prefabs and scripts this week. Hopefully, by the end of the weekend, we might even have a nicely scaled terrain box, prefabs ready to drop in, and a good section of the scripting/entities ready to drop into the map too.

I love prefabs

Hey Ifurita

Had written some stuff about terrains, before I read the last post D:OH

An idea for the map:

  • Have a test area for rocket engines. Place this area somewhere in the map where the jet would cut off/kill the assualting/defending party for some time. Make sure you have high volume sound for it + add some target_push to blow players away from the blast.

I found this site some time ago and bookmarked it for inspiration for a later project:

[Edited, because I need to learn to spellcheck my post]

LOL. What entities are available for a flame like that?

I agree thats a puzzle. But combining animated shaders + brushes and what not, something should be possible.
