I was fighting a bot opponent last night who was ducking under cover, coming back out and giving me a hard time. I have to say I think the AI on this game is really good. If it weren’t for the shortened character names I wouldn’t know they weren’t human. They seem to go for objectives, put turrets up and behave like ‘real’ people. Very cool!
Anyone else think the bot AI is pretty good?

I do. In my opinion, if your AI doesn’t do stupid stuff sometimes, then it isn’t ambitious enough. The smarter and more dynamic AI is…the more often they screw up. AI that never makes mistakes is probably too scripted to be interesting.
I’m a big fan of the AI in Oblivion or Fallout 3…and people often complain about those as well.
The times when they do something brilliant makes up for all the times they broke down.
That said, I would like to see their religious obsession with command posts toned down some. Maybe, they could battle over command posts for half of an objective’s time length, but let them be for the second half, when it is crunch time.

The gunplay for the AI is irrefutable they are more than worthy foes in a firefight (especially their auto head shots) but I agree about the command posts and such. It sucks they work off the clock and especially your friendly AI who does not a damn thing until the last 330.

I still can’t consider them to be on par with real people, but they’re dang fun and entertaining for such ‘placeholders’. It always makes me smile when they(very often) throw grenades just to flush me out, or when they start strafing like crazy when I got them wounded with my barnett.

The AI is a little schizophrenic.
There are games where they may as well not even be there, just let me take on the other team 1v8, because I pretty much am anyway. Then there are games where I would have lost horribly without them.
It’s a head-scratch’r, for sure.
I will say tho, it’s probably 70/30 useful/useless.
Also, making sure you’re playing “Versus” and not “Cooperative” goes a long way to evening out their bi-polar outbreaks.
