Anyone else notice this (360 Version)

(TehPanda) #1

Hey guys,

After seeing gameplay of Brink I noticed a rather odd feature about it graphics wise. It looks like instead of applying AA to the game, they just added a blur filter, giving everything this rather blurry outline. It’s kinda of an eyesore. I was just wondering if anyone else noticed this.

The 360 is getting a day 1 patch on the release to fix visual bugs and the like, so I wouldn’t worry about it

After the patch however, if things still sore and all that, I would worry

Blur is perfect way to hide rather week hardware performances of xbox360…

Halo Reach

(TehPanda) #5

Well, the way it is currently with brutal texture pop in and this blur, it’s headache inducing lol. If theres a patch though, that’s excellent.

(beute) #6

the blur filter is probably the main reason why the current footage looks so much worse than the old container city gameplay trailers on PC.

(TehPanda) #7

Well, I’ll be updating in a second to see if theres a patch or what have you to change it. I’ll post results.

(TehPanda) #8

Well, it seems that solved some of it. Still a ton of jagged edges though, not so headache inducing now though.

This is true for a lot of 360 games sadly. I have Saints Row 2 and it’s the most terrible console port they totally ruined it for the PC. Tons of glitches and AA replaced with gay console blur which looks terrible on PC monitors

Good good, I’ve come to expect less from my 360 seeing as it’s old as dirt hardware shoved in there. As long as it plays smooth its all good.

(boozee84) #11

i don’t care that much about graphics, as long as the gameplay is good. sure, i don’t want to look the game like crap, but i doubt that anyway. either way, i can’t freaking wait any longer for it!

What’s the analogy they make between PS3 and xbox360. PS3 is like a super model with athritus and the xbox is an ugly russian gymnast. One looks nice but doesn’t perform well the other looks bad and performs brilliantly. I guess that makes the PC a flexible pornstar.

(Herandar) #13

Only the nice ones. My laptop is like a spinster aunt.

(Jess Alon) #14

That’s hilarious and I can’t give anymore rep today. Sorry.

I saw an unboxing video, and it had both the PS3 and XBOX 360 versions. On the back of the 360 case, it says it goes all the way up to 1080p, but for the PS3 it only goes up to 720p. Why is this? I mean, I’m glad since I’m a 360 player, but still, what the heck.

(beute) #16

they both only use 720p

there are no real 1080p games on the consoles except for a few indie games etc.

1080p on the back of the box is just the indication that the game will work on a 1080p TV… wich is stupid because every game will work on a 1080p TV, it’s stupid marketing to fool people.

most games run with 720p and are upscaled to 1080p, what does that mean?
well, if you watch a youtube clip, and then press on the fullscreen button, that is basicly upscaling.
the higher it needs to upscale the more quality is lost.

Well the Russian gymnast did get a bit of a face lift with the “S” model. So is that like giving the Russian gymnast a Brazilian wax?

Ok, but I still don’t understand why the PS3 only says 720p on the back, when it is better than the 360, hardware speaking.

(Jorst) #19

Because the Sony version is being advertised for it’s ability to run at 720p, the 360 version is being advertised for it’s ability to upscale to 1080p because it’s looks better having a high number on the box.

yes this is true
