Anyone else notice balance tweaks?

(Cheerio) #1

Today when I went to jump on to play Brink. I noticed something different… All the game actually were equally matched (even container city)
Here are the changes I noticed:

[ul]
[li]Spawn times fixed accordingly to maps for offense and defense[/li][li]Engineers taking out hackbox takes a lot longer[/li][li]Carb-9 SMG damage fixed [/li][li]Hacking now hacks a little quicker[/li][li]Turrets have better responsiveness to enemies vertically above or below it[/li][li]HE charges now have a larger blast radius and damage (also knock down if standing within the range of the blast)[/li][li]The zone from which mines detonate has been extended just by a bit.[/li][/ul]

I will update these as I find more. But yeah games are super balanced and it is a pleasure to play container city on both sides now. These are netvar changes i am guessing.

Edit: it is Netvar sorry for the error.

I did notice the engineer taking longer and the heavies now have stronger guns

I noticed the hackbox thing over the weekend. Maybe it was my imagination.

I will have to check these out. Sometimes you may be getting used to the speed of the game. Hard to tell without direct comparison of changes though.

(Cheerio) #5

Maybe. But the spawn times were definitely changed. I noticed that right away

(Tetra) #6

Hacking still feels like an eternity to me.

(Mad Hatter) #7

I think the Chinzor’s accuracy has been increased as well. Not entirely sure what else was changed. Further testing is required.

(its al bout security) #8

yep netvars full effects are being seen games are being rweaked and people are happy plus stat site ois pretty tight

(Herandar) #9

Hope someone keys DenKirson in to the existense of NETVARs, or the weapon stat site is going to be useless.

(Qbix) #10

What are netvars? I am too lazy to google and have a slight idea but don’t know for sure. :stuck_out_tongue: And what did they change about the CARB exactly?

(its al bout security) #11

i have no idea how to explain netvars nor hpw tp make a link

(peteXnasty) #12

Imagine all the variables that make a gun and map tick are broken down into numbers in some way. Say, the damage on the carb is 50 (making this all up fyi) and the spawn timer is already a number, say 15.

Netvars take all these numbers and seperate them into what are basically seperate notepad files, which the home servers load for all the variables and stats for the maps and guns

The devs can literally open one of those files, change the carb damage to 60, open anothr, change the spawn timer to 10, save the files, and boom…the game worldwide now sees those changes go live instantly rstgr than be patched in. Make sense?

(Qbix) #13

Dunno if it makes sense, at least I understood :stuck_out_tongue:

So what changed about the CARB nao? Didn’t feel anything different yesterday.

(A.i) #14

I didn’t feel much difference, thought I noticed that on the resort hack box was taken out only once and container city didn’t have that much spawn camping as usual (still managed to block sec for some time).

Also, discovered that aquarium spawn camping works too, but maybe sec team sucked big time

(Saint Stunna) #15

LOL, “netvars” is just a stupid name for Variables.

(Smokeskin) #16

No, the key point is the the developer can change these and all servers and games starts using them, without actually having to roll out a patch.

And aren’t they called necvars?

(SphereCow) #17

No one remembers netvars?

(tokamak) #18

Would be great if we didn’t have to guess.

(Smokeskin) #19

If SD is really pushing necvars and making gameplay changes without informing the community, I am getting really pissed. One thing is they don’t give us weapon stats, if they also don’t tell us what or when they change something, that’s just grrrr.

So grrrr I can’t imagine that they actually would something like it. So my money is on “you’re imagining things”

(DarkangelUK) #20

It’s netvars, the journo that wrote the article put necvars by accident.
