Anyone else having trouble recording this game?

Ok guys, something weird happened.

I gave Shadowplay a go, and guess what happened, it SPLIT UP THE VIDEOS again.

There’s something going on with how the game runs on my PC.
Shadowplay will split the videos once they hit 4gb on Windows 7 and below. Why? Because Nvidia are lazy.
That’s really odd. I actually just looked it up and found out what the issue was since I know full well my files get WAY bigger than 4gb (which is the file size limitation for Fat32 file systems) and sure enough it’s because I run Win8.1 - http://www.geforce.com/whats-new/articles/geforce-shadowplay-beta-available-october-28#comment-1087683200

Yeah it’s really dumb, there is no 4gb file size limitation in windows 7 like it says there is. I can’t imagine many systems don’t have disks running NTFS or another modern file system that supports over 4gb file sizes so there’s really no excuse there. I have movies that are well over 4gb.

EDIT: Whoops didn’t read the follow up post just the article.
Yes Windows 7 does have that limitation with its inbuilt MP4 muxer. But there was nothing stopping Nvidia from using any of the free muxers out there that don’t have that limitation, or making their own. Just really lazy on Nvidia’s part.

Yeah, I agree they could have done better there. At least most of us will be on Win10 pretty soon which should alleviate that issue. Win8.1 is pretty fantastic for gaming and just in general (it gets it’s bad rap from the preview days of Win8) and Win10 is going to make that better since it will run even better on lower end hardware while giving devs the ability to use DX12 which should help performance significantly if the reports about it are to be believed.

I want to move to W10 but I love the Windows 7 theme too much, unless they give it to 10 I doubt I’ll move until W7 is deprecated tbh.

What do you mean by theme? Win8.1 has a very Win7 looking theme and there are tons you can download. Themes are meant to be customized. Hell, the UI is fully customizable.

Windows 7 default theme with aero on and its nice 3D type icons/symbols. W8 went full steamroller and couldn’t be flatter, has no depth or shine nor does it have transparency. I like my rounded window corners and the way it doesn’t look like everything is on the same level.

But, you can change that to anything you want lol. I’m seriously confused by this. It’s a theme and not something forced on you. That’s the whole idea behind themes.

I made Win7 look just like WinXP back in the day as well.

Yeah you can do that, but obviously you haven’t tried to make 8 look like 7, if you had you’d have noticed they never added the theme. There’s a few custom themes out there that look fairly similar to 7 except for the aero glass, the closest thing to that is a shady hackjob mod with forced donation.

I hear 10 is getting aero due to user feedback though so thats good. Give me legacy support for the 7 theme and I’ll pay for it even though it’s free.

I cannot begin to tell you how much I hate flat UI man, I hate it so god damn much. It was actually the main reason I didn’t grab an iPhone last year and ended up getting the S5. iOS7 had just come out and looked like crap. Of course since then I’ve found a bunch of other reasons I shouldn’t have grabbed the iPhone so that was a big bullet dodged…

And have you seen the W10 icons? Flat flat flat. Rage.

Offtopic as fuck but I don’t care, must vent.

That’s what I am saying. You have to get a theme. It doesn’t matter that MS didn’t add it. The theme system is entirely for you to customize or use other people’s customized themes. Sure, default changed but if the OS looks changed it would not only get stale in looks for a lot of people but it would be confusing to sell as you couldn’t show people how much things have changed (even if it’s superficial like the UI that you can change to anything you want).

Haha, I get what you mean. I just don’t understand how you aren’t using themes to fix things. I have numerous things setup on my computers that changes the look to how I like them and some of them aren’t included in the base OS. Changing things to your own tastes is a spice of life man!

But yeah, we’ve gone way off topic here. Apologies to the OP!
