Anyone else having their characters voice change?

(PlaidHero) #1

I’m kind of a big RPG guy so this is important to me. I chose the first voice, which is the Irish accent. I just turned on my game and played a mission only to find that that isn’t the case anymore. I have the voice that now says “mucho bad guys spotted”. Does anybody else have their voice change on them? I feel like this happened on another character I made, but I brushed it off as I had simply chosen the wrong voice to begin with. But with this one, I am positive that I chose the Irish accent voice.

I’d really love it if these things didn’t have to be permanent. I see no point in locking us into those options. If customization is something you’re trying to do, then let us change.

I’m really curious if this a bug, or my game is messed up, or if it’s my fault. I’d like to know if anyone else has encountered this problem

what platform

I’ve had it happen to me, on PC. Chose the first voice, now it’s one of the two generic american ones.

On ps3. And awesome, good to know it isn’t just me. Extremely annoying

Same thing happening to me. I can make a new character, pick any voice, and it’ll default to the first voice. It’s just luck that my primary character has the voice I actually chose.

I hate it, I want an Irish accent, but I keep getting thrown into a lame American one. Totally throws off the persona I’m trying to get with my character. These bugs I’m finding may be minor and annoying, but they still help make the game what it is.

Same here on the 360, i picked the sergeant sounding guy but it switched back to the other voice, though ‘mucho bad guys spotted’ still can make me chuckle on occasions since it sounds funny when your getting your rear handed to you and he says is in a tone thats ‘meh lots of people, but no worries’

yea same here on 360 I kept pickin the irish one as he sounds abit mental and it keeps swapping it to some rasta sounding guy doesnt make a big difference sept im playin as a white guy haha

I play on PC and PS3, haven’t had it happen on PS3, but it’s consistently happening on PC. I choose Irish, I get rasta.

Xbox360: there’s a thread about the character customizations not appearing right in co op, which I’ve been noticing a lot today. My buddy’s character was not only wearing the wrong outfit he said, but it had a completely different voice than what he had picked. Might be the same problem, customizations not working right

360, same problem.

Same problem here on the PC. I chose the Irish guy but get the Londoner. It’s really annoying as the voice it keeps switching to is the voice of my Resistance character, so it’s completely ruining the RPG element for me.

Soldier on deck! it is ok with me. perplexing

The same is happening to me. 360 version. I’ve made 3 characters and only 1 of the voices have stayed what I told them to be. When it asks if you are sure you want to keep these settings as they can’t be changed I expect them to be the voices I selected. Now I’ve got a light, black operative/engineer with a gruff Scottish voice and a medium, black medic/soldier with a gruff Scottish voice. I chose the last voice on the list for both of them. That’s the rasta sounding guy. It’s really annoying.

Bump and sticky this mo fo!

Happened to me too! I play it on the pc. I dont recall if it has happened to my first character, a white heavy medic, but I am pretty sure it happened to my second character, an asian medium operative. I could have sworn I chose an… asiany accent for him but now he sounds like… a regular english dude i think.

I dont mean to be rude or anything, mayby the operative’s voice is not british but irish instead, I cant tell, I dont know any irishmen or english types. Likewise with the asian voice. But I wanted the operative to sound asian, and it has been altered and I cant change it back because the game does not allow it! This ruins the immersion or illusion of the game. I want to play a role in this game but that’s foiled by this bug.

It’s just a little bug, no game breaker, and I am sure there are more pressing or important bugs and things for Splash Damage to do, like making game balance and/or fixing crashes and such. But it would REALLY make me happy if Splash Damage would fix it, somehow “resetting the voice”, let us choose what we wanted the first time and this time make the choice stay!

Come on, Splash Damage, you can do it!

One thing I’ve noticed is the operative’s ‘I’m in disguise!’ sounding exactly like the one in Quake Wars - that might be intentional though.

360 my guy is white as the driven snow but talks like he’s right near da beach!

Edit: I didn’t pick the Jamaican voice obviously

PC; first few days it was fine then one day i log in and play a game and notice the voice changed.
