Anybody else wishing for the ability to command the team AI?

So, in the challenge Be Objective 2, my AI teammates are idiots. The AI enemies, are geniuses. They stick together, choke at the choke points, and generally rape me up and down.
This challenge doesn’t even feel plausible to me at this point. I’m not terrible. I just don’t see how I can possibly solo it against 5 godly AIs. The ability to tell a medic to follow me, an engineer to set a turret, soldiers to escort me, would be such a lifesaver. The enemy AI throws grenades, works together, destroys me. My AI? Run in alone, die alone, never cover me, never follow me, etc.

Was this left out on purpose? I mean, they are called “challenges” and I suppose this is only my second day with the game, but it literally feels impossible. I’m level 12, am I supposed to be a higher level for this to be easier? Or lower?

I’m sure some amazing player will hop in and tell me how awful I am, but giving the AI orders could apply to the other game modes as well. Just feels…missing.

I did the first star of all challanges, and lower level is better, you should do the challanges first on a new character.

^This. I finally completed Be Objective 2 after my 5th-6th try. My AI team mates were less than useless but some how the enemy were using at least basic tactics. It’s interesting how I had to basicly “lone wolf” the challenge which is basiclly a tutorial on how to play a team game…

And where not even going to talk about how, in campaign, I end up holding down a room for 5 min with an engineer, waiting for an AI operative to show up to start hacking, only for the operative to not show up, all other AI teamates suddenly wipe at the same time, I get killed by 4 enemy players surrounding me, and then time runs out before we can recapture the room. This exact scenario played out about three times so I’m guessing it’s not a fluke. Bottom line SD said that the AI was going to be good but it’s not. Wasn’t it to be human level but its beyond fustrating.

tons of FPS have team commands.

While I agree that even a rudimentary ability to tell your team to move, attack, or defend a certain point en masse would do wonders for the campaign and challenges, Be More Objective on 2 stars is entirely doable without it. I watched my friend try it several times before giving up yesterday on his 360, but after watching some people do it online, I was able to do it on my first try when I got my PC copy today.

I may have just gotten lucky, but I tended to complete objectives by shooting them until there was a break in their reinforcements, then making progress on the objective. Also, my AI teammates were more helpful than I expected them to be, typically reviving me within 20 seconds of death. I’m not sure if it’s random, but the AI gave me 2 medics and a soldier as teammates.

UT3 had simple bot commands.

Yeah, basic AI commands would be nice “Follow Me!” “Defend this point” “Enemy Sighted”

I fully understand why the player is required to complete the objectives in challenges - but having AI that is nearly NO help just seems counter-intuitive…as does teh Vehicle Escort challenge, that actually requires you to complete with NO help.

Is it doable? Sure it is. But it does nothing to impress the need for teamwork. In fact, it reinforces the idea “Congrats! You did this as a lone wolf!” It’s just a very odd way to teach a player how to play a team-based game.

I think this might be the key.
