Any word on the shuffle cut off point?

(doxjq) #1

I’ve played 7 games today and literally lost 5 of them because someone has called a shuffle with 1 minute or less to go. Apparently they’re doing it more often now because you get more event points or something if you win? I don’t know if that is true or not, but if it is you’re gonna see this happening a lot more.

Even without the points this is just getting seriously out of hand the way this is happening so often now. I can understand why people rage quit the game so often now.

@stayfreshshoe perhaps some insight if possible? Sorry if it looks like a complaint thread, I’m not here to attack the devs at all, just wondering eh.

As of this patch you get 500XP Game Mode XP for winning.

Well that explains it… This shuffle cut off really needs to be put into place then

My friend was on the opposing team yesterday, he had like 1000 points less than me, and I got amazing 3 cycles more than he did. I can’t imagine that would be worth leaving or spamming shuffle

Regardless of whether it is or not this is literally game breaking. Just played 3 games with my mate who hasn’t played since September last year. We were on the same team and some doofus callvote shuffle AGAIN in the last minute and it moved my mate and not me (for once), so he ended up losing. He was pretty ragey about coming back to such dickheadery trolls.

tl;dr - I honestly think it’s enough to put newer players off the game when things like this can happen, and actually do happen more often than don’t. Seriously even if the vote doesn’t pass I think 90% of my games involve a shuffle with 1 minute to go because some wanker on the losing team thinks it’s a good idea to try and troll shuffle.

THIS FIX THIS!!!

And just for completion sakes. Don’t forget to also disable shuffle votes for second half of stopwatch. I’m getting sick of having to deny those shuffles every few minutes. Even when I’m on the loosing team.

I think it’s still ok to voteshuffle for the first few minutes in the second half. Occasionally I’ve seen a decent first half, then some people leaving and consequently the seconds half becoming imbalanced. At least on min 10 servers a voteshuffle early in the second half fixed this (warts and all).

No votes (with the exception of vote kick) should be able to be called after 5 mins have past, or if the map has 3 objectives once the first is done vote shuffle is no longer available. @stayfreshshoe

The thing is though, this would be a work for autobalancer instead of out-right shuffling the entire ordeal.

I’ve seen more than enough times shuffler putting up for example team of no engineers on anyone’s squad (there was even amount, 1 or 2 on each team before shuffle) when shuffle was called at beginning of second part of SW.

People do pick their classes sometimes in the lobby by looking what others have and have not. Shuffling dun-goofs this entirely. So unless the code itself would be made so it takes into account mercs in squad, no shuffles after 1st half.

And for the love of Cthulhu eating pancakes from a plate made of fire please @SD finally add a real bloody limit to shuffle votes. This is getting ridiculous, toxic even and very off-putting for new players. For example some people thought they absolutely must be on the same team as a lvl60+ is and kept shuffling (no sodding idea why enough other peoples thought so too). I quit the match after 3rd shuffle in hopes of making them stop that idiocy.

Well kinda, the thing is if people drop out inbetween (which in itself is super stupid stopwatch is won or lost on the second round not the first, kids), I’m usually one of the first that is willing to switch to even things out. And I’m pretty vocal around here for an aggresive autobalancer in casual play for such cases.

But thats not what currently is happening. What is happening is that people start to spam shuffle votes after they had a bad first round, complaining that the teams where stacked and sometimes even getting pretty heated about it after several shuffles don’t get through.

The thing is in most cases noone intentionaly stacked a side, but everyone on the winning side played as good as they could and arguable they synergized better as a team. demanding a teamshuffle now because their team didn’t manage that, is unfair.

I mean come on, no one demands from a football team, that 3 players will play for the other team now. Because the former is leading with 2 goals.

Getting completely wrecked by the other team isn’t having a bad round. It’s either vote, or quit. I’m sure you’d prefer if the loosing team just quit so you could still win, but that’s fun for only half the players.
I really wish there was no vote, just automatic balancing of teams when numbers get out of hand or one team is just annihilating and spawnfarming the other.
