Any tips or strategies?

Hey, I was hoping to get some strategies from people who main different mercs. I recently bought sawbonez and am not 100% sure on the best way to play him well. Feel free to give advice on other mercs too.

Don’t be a dick.

Sawbonez:

There are generally two distinct playstyles that you can play with Sawbonez.

  1. The Solo Kid
Sawbonez is one of the more offensive-oriented medics where you can play away from your team due to the fact that you are able to lurk around flanking routes and keep your health at full with your med packs.

  2. The Pocket Medic
This playstyle is more support-oriented where you can pair yourself with 1 or 2 assault mercs such as Fragger, Skyhammer etc. Just provide support-fire and keep your “pocket” at full health.

Med-packs for yourself when turning every corner. You’ll never know the difference full-HP can make.

Don’t forget to supp your team.

  • Focus on keeping you and your teammates alive.

  • Don’t wander alone because you would be just simply fairly useless to your team. Personally if you go alone for a flank it’s better to go with something that can kill multiple enemies in a short period of time in order to get those big game changers instead of killing one dude every once in a while.
IMO this kinda of medics could as well play Phantom.

  • Don’t be the first one out of the door or in the front because if you get killed and you don’t have any other medics or they’re not anywhere near… well, guess who doesn’t have revives and healing for a while.

Sawbonez: Play aggressively, but keep your teammates around you. Keep them healthy and on their feet.

Bushwhacker: Place your turret in places where you can set up deadly crossfires.

Try hanging back, just a bit. Enough so you won’t be the first target and still on the front lines to support the other mercs.

As a Sawbonez Main: http://fs5.directupload.net/images/151106/temp/i6aqlnsk.jpg
I would say, it depends strongly on your Playstyle. I for example started out as an very supportive Medic. Had like 10 Kills but 15 Revives etc per Round. But then i started playing some other Mercs like Fragger and Nader and started to get more aggressive with Sawbonez. Now sometimes i have like 3 Revives but 30+kills.
It also depends if you are playing comp or pub. In Comp i stay with my Fragger and try to keep him alive or at least revive him as soon as possible. Sometimes in Comp i dont even have 3 Kills per Round, but in the End it doesnt really matter, as long as you get the Job done.
I prefer the aggressive style. Its for me more fun, but never forget: You are still a Medic.

Tips for Proxy: Don’t run the “highways”, get creative. There are 4 Enemies in the Room facing this Way? Fuck this, get out of there, run across the Map around them and fuck them up from behind. You are one of the fastest ones out there and a mine can clear a room better then a nade. Just throw it on the ground and shoot on it, it will nearly instablow.
Also try to set you mines behind a corner, not in front of them. I often see newbies placing mines in the middle of a doorway. Who is not seeing them? place them behind a wall. where there are hard to spot. The enemies dont have to step on the Mine its a Proximity Mine after all.

Bushwanker: Set you turret as denfence. If you go plant: Set the Turret so it can defent the Bomb. If you go defuse: Set the Turret so the enemies have to face the turret in order to see you, so you have more time to defuse.
And use your turret as a defense against flanking. For example: On Underground everybody loves to rush to the generator room for the Doors and are forgetting, that there is A way on the other side too. Set a turret there and you are save from “The C4 is planted” Because with the “lock on” it shows on your screen you know, that there is an enemy there.

Many players, mainly people who main as medics tend to gravitate around Phoenix for his ability to heal groups of players at once, or Aura who’s healing station allows players to camp and hold certain choke-points without having to retreat. I also forgot to mention: Sparks, who’s capable of reviving allies from a far range with her Reviver gun, and can deploy small medpacks. (All Medics are equipped with Defibs)

Players tend to view Sawbones as not quite as effective, when compared with the other Medic units. This is NOT TRUE in any way, shape, or form. Sawbones may not have the ability to heal large amounts of players on the fly, deploy “Heal over Time” stations, nor revive allies at a distance; however, Sawbones is capable of deploying Large medpacks which are quite valuable on the battlefield and can help re-instate hurt units. In Execution: [Defense] Deploy Med-packs around whichever site you’re holding to help out your teammates, and keep a spare handy if you need to quickly help allies who push aggressively. [Attack] Stay close to the main group of your attacking team and make sure they can live through confrontations.
His Sub-machine gun can be lethal at close-range, and when paired with a few team-members, an experienced player can not only heal allies, but eliminate enemies as well.
[Objective] If you have snipers on your team, drop a medpack at a location near a Rooted-Sniper (Player who plans on staying at that specified position for a moderate duration) and assist allies who are either attempting to get to the EV, or are defending it.
