Yes, I play a light soldier.
Sure it comes with its problems, but that’s just the kind of guy I am (full of problems, that is). I like to be able to run quickly, climb high, AND throw a whole mess o’ grenades. I just reached level 19 (xbox), and it’s only getting more fun as I go. 
Anyone else out there doing this? From posts I’ve read, most seem to go heavy, and only a few medium. I’m sure many of them would tell me I’m “doing it wrong.” Maybe… but it feels so right!
I’ve considered it. I run a med soldier and dish out a lot of good damage but still quick enough to run around and keep my team ammo’d up. running a light soldier would allow me to REALLY jack with the other team to get into mean flanking spots….but it’d also put me out of range of my team mates so I couldn’t support them with ammo as well.
yes, on Con-City i is pwnage with a Barnett molotovs and a ritchie in ma litle sniping spot as Resistance
Would make a good sniper, i usually play light medic for the speed so i can make it too save people.
If I’m in need of explosions I will go soldier.
That’s the thing really, I don’t focus my build to badly on one class so I stay versatile.
I think the “Cons” list is pretty obvious, but it’s mercifully short:
CONS
You die more more often
No big guns
The “Pros” list… well I’m still learning, but here are a few:
PROS
Catch up to the action more quickly when you respawn
Get supplies to your teammates more quickly
Quick leaps for cover mid-firefight
Throw grenades from unexpected places
Really, the best part is how quickly you can get to a nice high vantage point. That’s good for defense, and makes it really easy to rain fire down on choke points.
I really miss my underslung grenade launcher as light, which is the only thing that makes me play as medium half the time.
I play light soldier. Mobility is very useful for a soldier: planting bombs, throwing out ammo etc.
Yes absolutely, I also play as a light soldier and I am currently loving it. The extra speed and movement options is great with the extra grenades.
The speed boost to get to your team mates quicker is in no way a big enough boost for your lack of survivability and mid weapons.
Medium have excellent maneuverability and I’ve never found fighting lights to be a problem at all.
Imo, light soliders aren’t great synergy, but it’s probably my play style instead of an objective flaw.
Actually a Light Soldier could work well, I might make mine light when the time comes.
Perch up high with a long rifle, and you don’t have to worry about ammo.
I was doing Medium Medic for a while because I didn’t want to lose my shotgun. After a while I realized while the shotgun is the bees knees against bots it sucks pretty hard against any player paying attention. So since I usually prefer agility in any game I tried light. Of course, I found it amazing. Getting the hell out of the way is worth way more than extra health and sadly SMG wipes all over the Mossington.
I was on some maps with tons of medics so I gave soldier a try. Light + Soldier is pretty amazing, I have to admit. The automatic kevlar means you don’t miss the extra health at all (usually). I’ll be keeping a respectable Medic spec though so I can swap when needed, or when friendly fire in tight quarters makes grenades a pain (sorry teamates, I’m really sorry about that…)
As light soldier I can be way more aggressive than medium, sliding into guys and knifing them. Yeah you can do it as medium too, but try them both and I’m pretty sure you’ll see the difference.
Unfortunately I’ve become the stereotypical Light + Carb monkey, but it’s way more fun than anything else I’ve tried. Even when I die it’s more fun. Heh.
I’m light pretty much all the time anyway. Soldier’s what I use with the heavier bodytypes the most though because of how much you can spam with grenade launchers.
The thought has crossed my mind, but I’ve never really tried it. Now that I know the joy of having an underbarrel grenade launcher as a soldier, the chances of me playing as a light soldier are virtually nonexistent.
Meeeeee, I love playing light solider. I don’t die nearly as much as I thought I would playing as light.
