Now I know its not as bad as some others but this guy would easily fit in with many of the whiners and complainers on here when it comes to certain subject matters. Like the stuff about classes or grenades, seems like he didnt even really play online with groups of friends often. Now i dont normally do this but this guy just doesnt get it and doesnt get why i didnt like his review, any chance some of you guys could let him know where he went wrong.
Any One Else Think This Review Was Half Assed?
That guy’s response was, “Brink isn’t as “sharp” as other games.” WTF does that mean?
Game Progress: 100% Campaign, 50% Challenges (no Multiplayer)
That is all.
What? You talkin about him or yourself?
Hahahahahahahaha wish i would have known of this before I commented on the article on N4G, would have been the nail in the coffin for my point i was trying to get across. Knew the guy was just being a tool and pretending to have experiance, lol i could spot it a mile away just like 99% of the other reviewers.
PLEASE anyone on N4G chime in and back me up, I ran out of comments to post and he needs to be outed!
Nothing wrong at all disputing a review. But to say that people are “whining” is kinda going overboard.
The guy said that the AI was incompetent… that is not “whining” and there is actually truth to that. And before you can say that this is a MP game, my counterargument is that they included bots in this game and failed to deliver on the amazing AI they said the bots would have. Points taken off for that.
The grenades? Yeah, they are really really weird because they’re just basically a puff of smoke. Though, I do like how weak they are because that prevents random grenade deaths.
He was right when he said it was a miserable single-player experience. Again, you can say that this is a MP game but I’m going to counter with “they included a campaign mode.” That goes right along with “There is no plot, no narrative, and no character development: in fact, the character you work so hard to create is merely a background role in all of the events that happen throughout the campaign.” It’s true and points are taken off.
Clunky gameplay? Here’s where people will disagree. I myself can put up with the gameplay, but I do agree that the gameplay seems a little “off.” Reading a lot of player reviews on Brink, most of them seem to really dislike the gameplay. They don’t dislike it because it requires teamwork, they dislike it because it just isn’t a smooth experience. More points are taken off.
Although I don’t play Brink as much as I used to, I think this game is fun at times. But c’mon… you guys are going to start disputing reviews like this? The game is a sold 6.5/10, maybe a 7/10 MAX. There’s nothing bad about that. It’s irritating that some of you think this game should be at least an 8/10. No, this game is OKAY… it is by no means AMAZING.
Oh, and people who saw the commercials and decided to purchase the game will agree with the review. Not everyone goes on forums… less than 10% of gamers go on forums. At least Battlefield advertises itself as an online experience. Brink advertises its single player like “Two sides to every story” and “Not just another hero.”
So how are people supposed to know this is mainly a multiplayer experience? When you review games, you’re supposed to take EVERY aspect of the game into account… including the SINGLEPLAYER if they INCLUDE it. Was a campaign mode included? Yes. Does it suck? Yes. So that gets taken into account when it is reviewed.
I don’t really feel the need to bash the guy for his review. I understand these people who feel deceived on the game, giving the marketing that sold it, and its issues at launch.
Most people admit the game is good and has huge more potential, but the clunky launch and the lack of some key features, especially for the console crowd it seems, has generated a lot of frustration.
People want to love this game, but some mere technical stuff is hindering it, as well as a few design choices.
Still, the game is great, but there is a lot to learn from these reaction both on SD and Bethesda’s side.
For one, don’t sell the moon if you can’t deliver. For two, don’t realease before proper testing. For three, if you’re gonna try and reach the console market, try to think like a console player and peek on the popular console titles’ features.
And if you want to rock everything with a new way to play, be sure to get the message through otherwise most won’t realize it and play it like any of the other AAA shooter they got used to.
