Any news on stats?

Specifically:

Will they be public, private, semi-private, opt-in public…?
(reason for private, semi-private or opt-in so players who want to can play without worrying about their stats).

My two cents on the ubiquitous kill/death stat: It makes perfect sense for deathmatch games but doesn’t belong in an objective based game (reasons are obvious, or are they?) Would SD dare to leave it out for the benefit of improved team play? And yes I know it’s important to mow down the enemy but that’s not a primary responsibility for a support class.

I enjoy playing with stats myself and we know the teeming masses will demand them, but in what format and detail will they be delivered?

They already said no global leaderboards, so it’s either personal stats, and/or stats between friends.

Even playing BC2 I don’t care about my K/D ratio. It’s usually about 0.6 for me since I tend to focus on the objectives whilst my friends cover me and do the shooting. I’m typically Engineer on Rush defense, Medic on Rush offense, or soldier/engineer on conquest maps.

So similarly I don’t think that it’ll be a concern for Brink. The game is doing everything it can to promote teamwork… so Rambo killing doesn’t really fit in there…

wonder if things ahve changed since that comment…from the gamespot write up on the day 2 thread:

“Splash Damage is doing something interesting with weapon unlocks, tying them to challenges designed to teach the game’s mechanics and systems. The early levels of the challenges are easy, allowing players to jump in, learn some things, and come away with a shiny new gun. The later levels are challenging and will be tied to leaderboards and further unlocks.”

I have to say I like the tutorial thing being tied to unlocks, pretty much assures that the majority of the players will do the tutorials and thus educate new players on a game with a higher than normal learning curve.

I also found reading that gamespot statement a bit odd after everything SD said about global leaderboards.
