Any information about open Beta/Release?

(onYn) #1

Just wondering if there is any specific year SD is aiming for, regarding an open beta or even release version of DB.

(Protekt1) #2

I got a good laugh “any specific year”

I’d imagine 2015 is now the year they are aiming for.

But which month…

From the signals Nexon is giving off… ASAP

(Silvanoshi) #4

Certainly aiming for a 2015 release with DB atm, although we’ve got to hit open beta first ;).

(xdc) #5

game still feels like it is in alpha stages, less than 10 maps, execution had no focus testing, none of the maps bring a unique style of gameplay… too much to write, feel free to look at my other posts

(Nail) #6

release is stated as 5 maps afaik, saw it posted somewhere

One of the things that we’ve wanted to do with Dirty Bomb is to get it into the hands of players from as early a stage as possible. With did this with the Alpha, and provided Closed Beta to a wider audience at a far earlier stage of development than most “marketing” CBs these days. Equally, we’ll be going into open beta earlier than AAA products do these days too.

All of this allows us to gather far more feedback from the community far earlier than is usually the case. We can then incorporate that feedback into the decisions being made when looking at future game developments. Things like new game modes or maps can most certainly come during Open Beta, or even after release.

Wouldn’t it be easier if the decisions SD is making were communicated with the player base so we can give targeted feedback? Intead of just letting us give feedback on everything and then trying to incorporate it into your decisions. Sounds to me like with the latter it would be difficult to find / remember relevant feedback, plus you know having to read it all when most of it isn’t relevant.

Atm the decisions are made, implemented & then you ask what the community thinks… At that point is there a reason to give feedback? The decision won’t be revoked, just slightly tweaked.

Back in the day it felt like a lot of our feedback was taken into consideration especially with Smooth posting nearly everyday in ALPHA trying to figure out balance… We also gave a ton of feedback on Maps and many other things that we were told will take awhile… We were also told that things like HP regen and all class objectives were just being tested and might now stay… Its been one full year from a lot of this and I hope SD’s plan was to Build up to very significant updates as we get closer to open beta which I assume in around March or May 2015.

I am very thankful to be a part of this game especially after playing COD AW! All I can say is wow… DB though currently spammy feels pretty good… A few classes like Shotguns I think are a little to fast but that could just be acceleration.

SD, I assume there will be a large Closed Beta Key Release next week will the founders get 1 or 2 keys to give away also? Will there be a large focus on USA keys given away? I still can not remember the last time I played in a USA server… A lot of my glitching, warping and many other things I complain about might be do to the fact I have 120 to 170 ping when I play…

“Lol, one of the things we wanted to do with Dirty bomb is drive it straight into the graveyard and soak up whatever money we can before starting our next project.”

Sorry Silvanoshi, this game is going no where without a major patch and by major I mean something we’ve yet to see or expect which I have a hard time believing is going to happen.

Have you played the new patch?

(Hundopercent) #12

Is still battle of attrition? If so, I have no interest.
Are the maps even remotely better (aside from the “new” camden)? If not, I have no interest.
If I pick a medic do I still need to land 7 headshots vs everyone elses 3-4? If so, I have no interest.
Are their routes? A purpose to wall kick other then to move around erratically with a shotgun? If not, then I have no interest.

I can update my DB and give it a shot but I’ve tried that before and it still feels like I am trying to shoot stringbeans with a bb gun.

Give it a try
I have NOT played the new update yet but it seems worth trying…

My Friends are in your shoes… They dont want to come back until big changes are made… I have NOT asked them back either because I know they might only give the game one more shot because call BS on me…

I feel you are a little more open then my friends and might give the game 3 or 4 more shots before really calling it quits haha

spookify is right, a lot has changed, and DB is still true to SD’s original purpose.

Maps have some rather dramatic changes compared to where they were earlier this year. It’s easy to overlook how significant that is when we have become so familiar with the art style.

Realistically, DB could have shipped with the amount of design at the start of this year, just with some minor menu and code polish… plus an obscene AAA hype machine, it would have made it a "major’ release for the year. Let’s be honest, there are a lot of games that reach final release with less design thought and polish than DB already has… a lot of AAA dog ****!

I want it done NOW too, but more importantly, I want it to NOT suffer the fate of Brink.

And especially now, November 2014, if this game is so dramatically NOT to anyone’s liking. Unreal 4 and Unity 5… the potential to make your game at full AAA standards, even as a solo effort, has never been more accessible as an achieveable goal than right now.

SD has an obligation to us after the game is released to support it and basically keep it alive, but until then it is worth being reminded that during the pre-release phase it is their work that ultimately has to satisfy their vision first and foremost. It doesn’t help the input/feedback process to resort to slanderous accusations… we could be getting the EA hot air about “we’re going to be true to the games community now, we’ve learnt our lesson… oh look, BF4 closed beta for all you BF3 Premium chumps, we’re doing a 3-days-before-release open beta now, but you get to preload 12 hours earlier… see, we value your input, anything you test now will make it into the retail boxes come Monday, we promise we care about our loyal community of players!!!”

Some perspective is in order before clicking submit with angry words pointed at SD.
