Any Hope For The Old School Beach??

(JACKSON5) #1

I’m not a full blown mapper, but I post here out of interest of finding a specific map. Most all of us playing ET these days started out years back with the RTCW MP DEMO version - playing either the Beach or Trenchtoast maps whilst spilling bong water on our shirts and having a good ole time. Since the free release of ET and the subsequent party that followed we were all happy… but now and again we crave to play the “old school” beach map with the added class of ET. Help me with this if you would, is it possible to play that map on ET, or has anyone modified it to run on ET?

Many thanks…

was it fun_beach_2 ??? not sure

altho the extras made an old beach fan :frowning:
kept getting lost :frowning:

the origional with a rebuildable wall
tracked landing craft (no that would be to much, just the wall)

would be nice

I know guys that pay money for that map! I played a few that were a bit like the beach, but expaned… Does anyone know if it’s possible to modify the old map so it will work on ET?

There is a ET version of RTCW Beach done already.

ftp://ftp1.hg-computer.de/ingame/planetquake/wolfenstein/enemyterritory/maps/mp_beach.zip

It probably violates the RTCW copyrights - it looks like the author used the source map supplied by id as well as textures, models and everything else.

Wouldn’t you rather have a nice new ET custom map to play instead of a copy of someone elses work? :disgust:

Obviously not since he said “I’d like to play the old school beach.”

Lego,
I owe you a nickle bag for that link! It’s perfect! The old school beach will play again!

There are two versions of the converted beach map out. One version is better than the other but they both have faults.

The better one in my opinion is being called a beta release and has a lighting “bug” that prevents light from falling on the player models in some rooms (players are in complete silhouette and it is a challenge to tell friend from foe). However I still think it is the superior version because of over-all lighting, sounds, and placement of ET ammo cabinets, command posts etc.

This is the link to the better one:

Some argue because the map was given away for free in the demo that they can also release it for free as a map. I will leave it up to the lawyers to decide. The map is fun.

You get that in the first tunnel on Oasis sometimes.
