Any details on the 4 Freeplay Playlists?

(tangoliber) #1

PC can customize their servers of course, but on Consoles there are 4 playlists for Freeplay matchmaking. (You have to create an invite-only match in order to customize further.)

The playlists are Standard, Advanced, Competitive, and Old School.

Does anyone have the details on the differences between these? I know that Competitive removes certain abilities. I read that competitive is 5v5 and has friendly fire on.

Old School is Competitive with two extra changes from default, I believe.

Trying to find my source on that, though even if I find it I’m going to say right now I’m not going to link it here.

Thanks for your info :slight_smile:

Ok, here we go.

For PUBLIC FREE PLAY there are 4 playlists:

Standard,
Advanced,
Competitive,
Old Skool.

Old Skool has: Public VoIP, FF On, Forced balance, “death spectator mode,” no rank restriction (?), and Commant Post buffs. It also does not have Overtime, so if you get a plant off with 20 seconds to go, but the plant takes 30 seconds to go off, it will not go for those 10 seconds extra.

Competitive DOES NOT HAVE “death spectator mode” or Command Post buffs, but is otherwise the same as Old School.

Advanced has everything enabled. FF on, Public VoIP, forced balance, death spectator mode, rank restrictions, command post buffs, and overtime.

Standard is Advanced with FF off and Public VoIP disabled.

I assume (though I cannot confirm or deny) that in PRIVATE Free Play, each of these options is configurable on its own.

As for the number of players:

Standard is 8-8 per team (8 min, 8 max);
Advanced is 8-8;
Competitive is 2-5;
Old Skool is 0-8 (meaning one team can be entirely bots, I guess)

I would take that to mean “No Bots”.

Great info!

Why would you say that? None of the other modes have 0 as a minimum. You have to expect that competitive mode would not allow bots, so it’s safe to say they put the minimum as 2 players so that there are no bots. When you move the minimum about of players down to 0, you are saying that you allow bots.

I can’t tell if you’re being sarcastic or not though Herandar, you might have been and it’s so damn hard to tell with you. lol

Minimum number of “players” on each team in Standard and Advanced is 8. (X human players + (8-X) bots.) Minimum number of “players” on each team in Old Skool is 0. In Old Skool, theoretically you can have one human versus a team of 0. Ergo, the teams will not auto-fill with bots to 8 “players” per side.

“Players” meaning humans & bots. You really think that every Standard and Advanced game is going to have 16 humans playing at all times?? If one of them drops, they will be below the minimum requirements. Logic FTW RadBrad.

Sweet we get playlists :smiley:
Here is hoping they can be updated Halo style (not comparing to Halo but you understand what I mean)

No, the Standard and Advanced games will not have 16 humans at all times. Where did I say that in my post? Nowhere.

That’s what the autofill with bots is for. They said they want it to be seamless. So if one player drops, he’s replaced with a bot. That way, the game stays balanced in numbers anyway.

In an old skool game, what would be the point of 1 human vs 0? I don’t see it, would you please explain that to me? Since I have no logic and you want to “Overkill”, please place it in the game for it to make sense to a simpleton like me.

The numbers listed above represent the amount of players needed for the game to be played. Preferably, every game would start with the recommended amount of humans. Any slots not filled by humans, would be filled by bots, unless I’m misunderstanding what I’ve read and heard from the game so far.

And, I wasn’t a dick to you about your post when I posted. I even said I wasn’t sure if you were using sarcasm or not. But if you want to be a dick to me, I can treat you the same from now on. I’m going to bed, I’ll get back to this tomorrow, because I’m sure you have a really snarky retort ready for me.

I didn’t say anyone should play a 1 vs 0 game, I mentioned that it should be possible. Because of this, it means that the empty slots in Old Skool game are not filled with bots to reach the 8 “player” minimum. (Again, "player"s in my posts refer to humans plus bots.)

Yes, which is why there is a 8 “player” minimum per team on Standard and Advanced teams. Any empty slot is automatically filled with a bot. On Old Skool, because you can have teams with a minimum of 0 players, it must therefore logically mean that the bots do not autofill. That is why I said I would interpret that to mean “No bots”.

I don’t know what exactly I said that makes you feel like I’m being “a dick” to you. I wasn’t saying you have no logic, I was advising you (in what I felt was a friendly, ribbing manner) to use it. If you still don’t see my point in the above paragraphs, I’m not sure I can communicate effectively with you. Have a good morning.
