Any community interest in the v2_factory.map file?

(Mean Mr. Mustard) #1

Hey all,

Just curious if there is any interest in me ‘releasing’ the source file (.map) for v2_factory. Not that I did anything well in the map (or ground breaking), but there are entities like: a truck, command posts, dual-stage constructions, etc. that may help other mappers.

Of course, it a double-edge sword that you all could see my vast mistakes in making a map (but it was my first map so…)

If you think it would be useful, reply with an “affirmative” or PM. If there is enough interest, I’ll post the .map file.

I’ll probably post the vengeance.map file. The only real thing of interest, would be seeing that Mustard learned nothing from his first mapping effort

crap – they might realize both tunnels look eerily similar… actually, I think I digressed.

Wait until you all see my next map…muhahaha

i would like to rip things off… er i mean learn stuff from your maps, please post them somewhere

Please release it. I haven’t seen any misusage of the released map files. Drakir has released almost all his and there has been no ugly incidents.
Vengeance can be also relesed it is cool map for everyone to learn from… specially the crappy VIS.

If some ask me can he/she rip from my map. I would say “go ahead”. I think ripping and giving credit to orginal author is the biggest respect the mapper can give.
Leaving the credit out is the worst.

I’d like it to learn how you made those signs change. And make the wheels rotate. So much easier to learn when it’s in context.

Please do it. Open source stuff has been around since the beginning of computers and it didn’t hurt anyone, and it definitly will help newbie mappers (like me :)) to understand things without the need to decompile.
