between buying a pack and some hasty unlocking decisions i have found myself with some mercs i just dont like to use. which is no big problem except for the
“play XXX games with XXX in your squad”
these damn things seem to always pick the guys i dont like (perhaps it picks the ones you have low played numbers deliberately?)
Like right now i have to take Vaseline into 5 matches so i am forced into gimping my line up to two im going to take aura as medic seems to be the role i end up with most but then i have to decide to either not take a killer or a obj specialist my alternate for defend/attack roles.
it would be really nice to be able to sell off these unwanted mercs or at least disable them so i stop getting quests forcing me to take mercs i have no interest in playing.
any chance to be able to sell /disable or kill off my mercs?
Refunding is iffy and fairly situational I think.
The person who would know is @GM-Radrodo
Frankly I’m starting to be a bit annoyed by these missions as well, especially if I have two of them at the same time (I wonder if three are possible…). IMO this should be reconsidered. The novelty wore off some time ago, now all it does is ask me to gimp my lineup which can be an issue in competitive matchmaking. It’s no fun at all.
You realize you don’t have to PLAY the merc, it just has to be in your squad?
And you can always kick the mission and get a new one a few hours later.

Zenity is aware of that. The point is that it takes away from a third merc that he does wan’t to bring.
For example I like to bring Bushwhacker, Sawbonez and Skyhammer. One to play normally(bush) and 2 emergency mercs to break the ev/attack and a medic in case my team needs one.
If I get a Play 5 Games with Vassili in your squad mission I have to take out one of my 3 mercs. This means if my team needs a medic and I had replaced him with Vassili, I can’t fill that gap in my teams roster. Same example for Skyhammer or Bushwhacker.
“Play 5 games with Arty in your squad”… Dorgh, he just fell in uselessness recently and I’ve to have him in my squad for one hour and it’s always him. I’d prefer missions like “Play N games with a same merc always in your squad” or even “Play N games with 2 same mercs always in your squad”. Or even “Change your roaster entirely”.
I agree that it’s annoying and if you care about gaining credits you’ll do it. However, you are normally locked into playing a completely different merc for one of the combat/game/support missions. I find that more annoying. Especially when you get two Support missions at the same time (Waterboy). However, on the flip side, I’ve actually tried out more mercs and become proficient with a wide range of them partly because of those missions.
Well, the missions to play/win Objective matches present a problem for that too, no?

Kind of, yes. I’m ok with mixing things up though, it’s just that the merc missions serve no purpose at all. I am not actually playing those mercs (I’m familiar enough with all of them by now, and I know what I like), they just limit my options for no reason at all.
It’s especially annoying because it’s important to play your best in competitive, not just for the sake of your teammates, but also to keep the ratings meaningful. Missions which get in the way of that just seem really misguided.
I would prefer achievement based missions, like “get an ace” or something. I don’t really mind the XP missions though. Support is the only one which requires a special merc, and it’s not that bad to play a support role every once in a while. I also don’t mind ignoring it for a game or two, whereas with the merc missions it feels like I am “wasting” the game when I could have easily increased the mission progress just by adding the mercs to my roster.
@Zenity
I won’t pretend to know what the devs were thinking, but it does seem like the missions are more geared toward pub play than comp, just based on the number of missions that require you to do specific things.
I know how you feel, though. I rarely play support mercs ( there’s more than enough of them ATM ), so those support missions generally go unfinished. I’m not saying there’s not a better way of doing it, just not sure what it’d be.
The problem is not related to the MERCs you own. The problem is caused by the missions which are really bad currently. None of them is fun to accomplish… It should add a fun challenge, not something like “use this merc you don’t like” or “farm to get 10000XP”.
Well, you don’t actually have to use the specified merc, it just has to be in your squad. As for the get x amount of y type of XP, it’s not exactly a farming thing. Just play the game with the right merc (Engineers for Game Mode, Medics for Support, and all types for Combat) and do your job. The missions aren’t that bad…at least it’s not like “Get 3 Killing Spree Badges in one game” missions.
You can disable missions.
They only have to be in your squad.
You should be trying to learn all the roles anyway, even if you don’t like em. Back in League of Legends, I hated support, but I still player support 60% of the time, because I had to.

It sounds like you weren’t choosing to play support, but that is what your team wrangled you into.
Anyways, I believe the original point of the thread was that he wanted to stop receiving the missions entirely, not just dismiss the mission and wait 3 hours. He just doesn’t want to ever receive any missions anymore for that merc. It is a reasonable request, I think.
The best solution, I think, would be to include the option to sell a merc later - if you find yourself not liking it or regretting it(long term regret, not buyers remorse). Reduced credit return ofc.

yup thats it , realised i was sort of being penalised for buying the starter kit, as you can only get the quests for mercs you own, and i just dont like sawbones, prefer Aura’s weapons and abilities, fragger is ok but i prefer to use rhino for that job and vasaline , well it will be a cold day in hell before i play that cheeseball
id be happy to give him the ol yella treatment and just erase him from my roster. just having him in my squad makes me feel violated , and not in the good way.
