I have always thought that auto targeting weapons that you set and forget have no place in games that should require skill and tactics to excel at.
Any chance that you guys will remove the Turret? lol
Nope. Placing turrets demands tactical forwardthinking and skill otherwise they are meaningless or shut down imidiently. Also turrets increase the demand for skill and tactics on the enemies side demanding a higher amount of map awareness and punishing mindless rushing.
So turrets and actual all deployables, are a win win If you want more skill and tactics in your shooter.
turrets dont actually do much in combat unless there is someone paired with it… i am a bushwacking fangay and the turret on its own is pretty much an SMG9 that cant hit headshots to save its mother… but i wont be opposed to removing the turret for something like an RPG…
The turret is one of the most balanced abilities in the game. It is literally on par with Proxy’s mines and Fletcher’s Sticky Bombs. It’s ridiculously easy to destroy, and it’s damage isn’t particularly potent. However, if the Bushwacker knows what he’s doing, he can hold his own against several (stupid) enemies.
It’s not the strength of the turret per se as it is the zone control and distraction.
I wouldnt say proxies mines are perfectly balanced, there pretty braindead for how powerful they are
A poorly placed turret is absolutely useless, and proper placement is difficult. It needs to strike a balance between limiting the turret’s exposure to fire from sides and from behind, and letting it actually do its job. You can’t have both. Figuring out what you need, and when you need it, is a skill. Likewise, knowing how to deal with it, is a skill. It’ll always, to some degree, be exposed either to fire from outside its range, or the sides and rear. Unless you want to place it where it’ll do absolutely no good.
If anyone can think of a location where it’s both protected from flanking and long-range shots, and commands a good, open view of all possible approaches in an area that’s actually relevant ( so, not some random, dead-end corner of a map ), I’d like to know about it.
EDIT: Explosives are, of course, always an option. We’ll disregard those for now.
Anyone else noticing the trend that people only complain about mercs that are in free rotation?
Mo Mercs, Mo Problems.
More counters too incidentally, but that’s often overlooked.
