Any chance of some definitions in laymens terms?

Bounce: Enables radiosity calculation. It will re-diffuse the light emitted onto a surface N times

ok, so what’s a radiosity calculation? What benefit does it give me?

also what does lightmap actually mean? I keep hearing people say it but I don’t understand it’s meaning.

Finally: supersampling. Is that where the shadow edges are antialiased or is that something else?

Thanks

Radiosity/bounce - in reality, when light hits a surface a proportion of the light will bounce off it to illuminate other surfaces around it. Like if light shines through a window in to a room, it doesn’t just illuminate the surfaces it falls on, the light bounces off surfaces to illuminate others inside the room.

Why use it - cos it looks cool compared to not using it!

But - it takes longer for a map to compile, yet it’s worth it.

Lightmaps - lightmaps are basically textures that store the light information for each surface of your map. When you play the game the lightmap texture is overlayed on to the normal map surfaces giving a realistic impression that the surfaces are illuminated or in shade.
