Any chance of getting ECHO data released?

(Lumi) #1

@MissMurder Just wondering if there is any possibility to access ECHO data for us players? Just to be able to visualize the maps happenings and how to become a better player. Also out of curiosity I’d love to see it. I’m an engineer in IRL and a big fan of all sorts of charts and statistics.

If not all the info, just a few selected snapshots would already be a great start. Thanks

I so very much support that notion. Or maybe a monthly infographic. With some DB statistics (you know most used weapons, amount of total defuses…).

(Yak) #3

It should be easy enough for them to put together, and I’d love to see it.

(Lumi) #4

I would actually put a poll up, if only I knew how to set it up…

(bwort110) #5

someone say they will implent statistics. A msut have for a shooter like this.

(Ghosthree3) #6

Would be nice, but far down the priority list right now imo.

(Lumi) #7

I think that only concerns the in game stats like kill death ratio and accuracy. But not ECHO data specifically.

(MAOCUBO) #8

i think that would be great. have the statistics and the prefered routes players use in game would help a lot to improve the players skill.

just an idea in the end game you could do something like alien swarm it showed in the end of the game the map and how the players moved in the map and where they died, it help to improve the understanding in where and how did the team lost the game.

Yeah that is a nice system. It even has a slider like those from videos where you can advance and go back to check the different moments of the game.

I can see its usefulness in DB as to go back in time and see what route that flanking person took and so to learn which areas to pay attention to. Now I want ECHO data even MORE!

that would be so awesome and unique, but i think that will never happen.

shush! No negative thoughts! As long as a dev doesn’t pop up here and says no, there’s still hope!

Stats will be available in some form for sure, but the full echo data is highly unlikely imho. Could be wrong, just speculation.

(yusayu) #14

Id much rather have an API to fetch the data necessary myself. Stats pages would then be possible as well (something like dotabuff for DB for example).

(Lumi) #15

That’s fine too, I don’t mind getting my hands dirty to access the data, but it needs to be released or some sort of access given. I wouldn’t mind even paying a small fee to get the actual echo data reviewing program that the devs themselves use!

Same. An API that exposes the raw data and allows the community to build tools would be nice. However, that probably isn’t very likely as a rather large populace of people wouldn’t want their stats shown (good or bad).

I wouldn’t mind a web page that a player has control over that allowed you to show/hide what you want. However, that would take quite a bit of work and might be outside of the scope of what SD currently has in mind for DB.

I would like to see at least scoreboard stats include things beyond what it does (a little + next to a name to expand the score).

Sounds like a suggestion in the making. Customizable UI for the scoreboard. Change which stats you see, instanced per user.

(brawnyJester) #18

guys they cant even enable a demorecorder

(Amerika) #19

It’s less a question of can’t and more a question of why. The game is currently still in flux as it’s being changed consistently. Those changes would most likely break demos very quickly. I’d wager demo recording will come at some point, possibly even soon, but each change will come with the caveat that it might also break previously recorded demos. So putting effort fixing something that might not be useful or playable for more than 2 weeks at a time could be low on their priority list. And let’s be honest, some people would use even that as ammunition against the devs despit there being a very good reason behind it.

Just a theory but one based on this happening in most every other game with demo recording.

I think that DB shouldn’t have k/d counters and such. Because that would only promote tdm matches and selfishness instead of dying to help the team succeed especially in pubs
