Getting it for 360.
The only shooters I have on the PC are the Unreal games, all the others are RTS games.
I say that because most people already have a TV they’ve invested good money in to watch cable/movies on. Whether it be for family, or friends, or the gf, most people have a larger living room TV/better quality than they have invested in a monitor for their PC.
EDIT: I lucked out and got a 65" HD Sony TV for 500 bucks from a guy who wanted to buy a projector, but his wife wouldn’t let him til he sold his TV lol. So of course, I can’t get a monitor anywhere close to what I’m going to get with this. Plus, headshots tend to be a bit easier to pull off at range ;). lol
I was waiting for this kind of answer
hence, PCs are not that expensive - people just prioritise having big TVs over them. I personaly do not watch/own a tv, so I was willing to spend 3k on my computer. My point is that some people try to compare pc vs console without considering what consoles require to operate and what PCs are used for apart from gaming.
Excuse me for stereotyping but allow me for a bit.
A guy that has friends that come over to hang out, or a girlfriend, or kids, will value a TV/console over a 1k+ computer. Why? Because a pricey computer presents something for 1 person to participate in, a TV allows many people to participate together.
If I was still single, by myself, with no intent of having hangouts at my house (AKA my WoW years) I would gladly invest a crazy amount in a computer, lock myself in my bedroom with a mini-fridge, and be content. But I chose a TV where I can play games with my friends, have a superbowl party with family, etc.
So this is where we draw the line of different people with different needs having different preferences. It’s more logical for people living in a situation where they will share experiences with other people so they want the bigger TV, compared to people not needing/wanting to share the experience so instead they invest in a better PC for themselves to love.
Please don’t take this as a flame, or attack, on anyone or their preference. As I said, I once was one with a higher priced computer, playing a game by myself with no intent to share, for many (too many IMO) years. As I get older and more social, I choose to invest in things that can be more enjoyed socially rather than solo.
Not saying you can’t have both, if you have the money, FANTASTIC. I am happy for those of you that are well off enough to have the best of all worlds. But for those of us that need to choose, it’s a matter of personal preference and situation.
Wouldn’t be much point getting it for ps3 lol.
Xbox360 for me due to the fact my mates will be on xbox live.
there only one “console” on market today, named “Wii”.
rest was something like “gaming workstations”, built PC-alike, programmed PC-alike and sold PC-alike, cost more than PC, perform weaker than PC and look crappier than PC.
You can’t even come CLOSE to making a decent PC for 299.
A decent processor costs 299. You can get a BARGAIN processor for 99. You can then get a BARGAIN GPU for 99 (which won’t run Brink at max.) You can then get a BARGAIN case for 49.99. You can then get a BARGAIN dual channel RAM set up at 4GB for about 69.99. You can then get a BARGAIN HDD for 49.99, that is around 500GB. You can get a BARGAIN Motherboard for about 49.99 as well. Finish that off with a BARGAIN 15’’ monitor (49.99) BARGAIN Dell keyboard (9.99) BARGAIN Logitech mouse (19.99). That’s not including your 16.99 12x DVD R/W+.
That’s 440 dollars for a computer that runs last years games well, and barely runs next years.
Try again troll.
Most people forget that a PC is needed by almost everyone for work or studies and therefore most people already have one. For 600 bucks you can get a PC to run every game out there just fine. I consider a PC not that much more expensive.
You could get a PC that can do all your word processing/online stuff for work for about 200-300 dollars. Most work related stuff doesn’t require anything advanced when it comes to a home PC, unless you’re talking graphics design.
I was using a laptop I bought off my mom for 400 bucks for about 3 years. Core 2 duo, integrated graphics, trust me, it wouldn’t run a game at medium settings without jumping off the desk to kill itself. A PS3 with controller and mic is about 400 dollars, and then you use it with an existing tv that 90% of homes have already. And you have a system that people will make games to work with it, and you won’t have to upgrade it to run games smoothly for years to come.
Ok, here’s the thing.
1 - Your mom’s not going to give you a legitimate market price. She’s your mom.
2 - Budget-conscious PS3 users don’t buy a mic, so cut $50 off that price.
3 - Budget-conscious PS3 users would purchase a used PS3 which would come with a controller. In the long run, you’d be paying less than $250 plus games.
It’s true that for $600 you can build a computer that should run everything up to and including BF3 when it hits, but that’s over double what I paid for my PS3. And when $600 becomes available to me, I will be making that investment, by the way.
Yeah, I know Linsolv. I’m in the PS3 camp, not the PC one. Lol. I’ll never turn to PCs for pure gaming because it costs too much to keep them updated to continually run games smoothly.
I’d love to have a PC. Do not misunderstand. As I have said multiple, multiple times, I’m just waiting on getting a few paychecks (unemployed atm) to try and pick up a PC.
Incidentally, I forgot to mention—if you are planning on being serious about gaming, most people want to have more gaming-oriented accessories, such as a decent laser mouse, headset, and a macro-able keyboard. Which will add another $100-200.
Indeed. Then you can add in the cost of a monitor. I’m waiting for someone to say “but you can just hook it up HDMI to your TV!” which you can. But I don’t know many gamers that actually do that. Most prefer the nice 20"+ high resolution HD monitor over that. Or multiple monitors to game on one and run chat servers/other stuff on the other.
