another mod idea... what about a personal mute?

(RayBan) #1

just another idea, not shure how hard it would be to implement… but what
about a way to personally mute a player, a non-admin function that anyone
( admins also, but not exclusively ) can do with some !psnmute command…?

there’s times when your playing and finding it very annoying when another
player is constantly spamming quickchats/vsays over and over and over,

and really… how many “deploy mortar”'s can you listen to in a row before
someone calls a kickvote or starts a spam match back at him?

i have heard a player spam “we need an engineer…” close to 10 times in a
row when our engineer had nothing to do at all, having done all his obj’s.

something like personaly muting a player would be client side only, and
the rest of the team/server would still see and hear his chats. you shouldnt
be able to mute an admin or maybe some admin lvl and beyond… just
the run of the mill player.

the mod would have to write a mute list for you i guess…

Sure it wasn’t some poor sheep being lost in a minefield?

Now I should look deeper into this, but I believe it’s not possible to do this just clientside.

the best thing is to spam him back

etpub has an /ignore command

so you type /ignore <player>

and all voice and text communications from that player does not get displayed to you.

you can also see your ignore list and you can also /unignore people

remember: etpub is open source

nq also got i think

(RayBan) #6

guess i should read the manuals… =P

i play jaymod mostly, although nq is good fun.

/ignore is actually an etmain command, so it should more or less work in any mod

ISTR it originally ignored chat but not vsays or maybe the other way around.
