And how about if arty will be javelin?

I am not english, so sorry if something is not properly written i hope you can understand me.
You know that we have 4 fire support mercs but only one of this can actually use is ability indoor. 2 of this have the ammo station and 2 the ammo packs. If arty will able to use the rocket launcer instead of his artillery we will get 2 mercs with an indoor ability (one with ammo packs and one with the station) and 2 mercs to use outdoor (the same). The rocket laucer will have same cooldown, damage and AoE of the artillery strike that i think it’s quite balance. I think this will make arty more usefull and the support class more balanced and avaiable indoor. What do you think about it?

Arty is already a powerful fire support operative. Skyhammer can also use his airstrike markers as makeshift grenades indoors, they are pretty damaging. Let javelin keep his/her rocket launcher.

(N7_Valhalla) #3

Yes, but giving to arty the rocket launcher they will balance better the support class and arty will remain almost the same. Also introducing javelin means they should add one merc for all the others classes, that it’s very good and probably will happen but i think not in the near future.

It won’t really balance the fire supports. And arty will be very different if he doesn’t have his artillery. If you give arty the rocket launcher now then what will you do when javelin comes out? You did say it “probably will happen”.

I play Arty as my main, and I think without his artillery he would be a very different character. If there is one thing they need to fix is the pinpoint accuracy you need to paint a target. For instance trying to get a good paint on train tracks…might as well just yell in the strike.

I don’t want no Arty in my bowl of Javelin.

The only thing they could do with Arty to make him usable indoors is to have his artillery strike shoot out a grenade that goes off to signal the artillery strike in addition to doing damage like Skyhammer’s Airstrike marker.

Any Arty pros got some advice on how to aim the artillery? Do you aim for their feet? I can’t seem to hit stuff.

(m86edit) #9

you can aim the laser at walls to get enemies around cover.

Yeah, don’t aim at people’s feet unless you caught a group from behind.
If you can see someone, and you’re considering dropping arty on them: Don’t, shoot them.
If you had seen someone, but they’re taking cover so you can’t shoot them: Drop arty behind the cover using a wall, overhang, or corner. Even if they see it coming they’ll have to move, so you can shoot them or move up.
If you can’t see anyone: Drop it on an objective or commonly defended area using walls and overhangs.

Learn where people set up health stations and turrets, then find out if you can hit that area from other parts of the map, for instance you can hit several key parts of the overpass on the first part of trainyard from the attackers side down below by aiming at containment boxes or wires.

This is a real Signature.

Aiming from walls can be inaccurate. There isn’t a real problem at aiming at people’s feet unless you can’t see their feet.

It’s all about knowing the map. Obviously you place it in high traffic areas. It stops people in their tracks by making them flee or die. If enemy team is storming an objective place arty on it. If the teams are scrapping together don’t join in unless it’s cqc. Call down artillery on their position and it’ll give your team the advantage.

Calling down artillery on a position where the enemy will soon be is effective, kind of like leading your targets. Just make sure it isn’t in plain sight as the laser that marks artillery can be pretty noticeable if it’s right in someone’s face.

Stay at a distance. It’s very easy to see arty lift up his spotter and the little laser beam he points at you. Behind cover or behind people, it doesn’t matter. Don’t let them see you. Don’t be a sniper though, just stay away from enemy fire and the frontlines.

Arty is a lot less effective when taking fire. This happens when you’re too close or your team is incompetent. This sort of applies to any merc but it effects arty a lot. You need the good positioning, but if your team isn’t stable then you won’t be able to hold one position for 2 seconds.

If you aren’t getting kills you’re at least delaying and scaring the enemy which is also important (granted you place artillery at the right spots).
