Ohhh shucks, you called me kid - I done won the internet now.
It’s late and I’m short tempered, what can I say. I appreciate the effort going into actually putting your thoughts into a video and getting it out there- I guess I’m just pretty patient when it comes to game progress, and I haven’t been invested in the game for the 3 year alpha to present period. As for cheaters, since I play very little comp (and what I have played has been without incident) all I have to go by is other people insisting there’s a huge issue, when in 240 hours I’ve seen all of 2 cheaters in game.
Anyway, leaving it to others to chime in with their thoughts for now.
I’ve stayed to pub games for the most part to avoid as many cheaters as possible, but in 300 hours I’ve encountered enough to be more than just an annoyance.
I enjoy the min. 10 servers but they’ve been a lot emptier as of late, so it’s harder to find good games to play.
As a result of wonky balance changes and less than patient friends, I find myself playing this alone if I’m not playing with people from my stream or viewers that add me.
A big thing for me is competitive matchmaking, a way to play against players of as close as equal skill as possible and a way to rank myself. For me that’s something I enjoy a lot. Without that, playing pub games for hours on end is getting a bit stale.
In RTCW/W:ET we had dedicated server hosting so we could run our own - between punkbuster and admins handling bans by hand, we were able to keep our servers much more clean. This is the issue I take with Nexon’s involvement, because this is one of the easiest ways for us to police cheating in the game. How that would work with official matchmaking servers has yet to be seen - but that’s why they’re developing the game and not us.
I understand we’ve been promised solutions, but those solutions will come when there’s nobody left to enjoy them at this point.
