An odd story concerning me and trade-up RNG (and a rather exciting airstrike)

I’ll get right to it. Yesterday, after many hours over many weeks of credit grinding, sinking thousands and thousands of credits on nothing but equipment cases and trade ups, I was finally able to trade up for a Cobalt card.

The merc I was getting a Cobalt card for? Phoenix, simply because there is only one loadout of his that I would legitimately be unhappy with: Every one of his loadouts has either Extra Supplies, Potent Packs, or Get Up, except for this one loadout, which also happens to have the KEK-10 (not my preferred SMG) and a Cricket Bat (my least favorite melee weapon).

The card I got when I traded up? Yup, you guessed it:

Here’s a visual representation of all the good loadouts I could have gotten instead:

[spoiler]The card I got is the ONLY Phoenix loadout with no green on it. -_-

It’s not terribly bad, but I was upset that I would have to spend 24k more credits to trade it in for a new one when I was looking to spend that money getting a new Rhino card to replace the older one I didn’t care for anymore. (My old Rhino card has Ice Cold, but since this isn’t a very good augment, I wanted a new card.)

This is where it gets good. I had just over a thousand credits left after getting my cobalt, so I thought I would trade in a few of my spare Bronze cards to try for a Rhino with Nitros, which is an extremely good augment for Rhino to have. To my astonishment, the RNGods decided to favor me with the exact card I wanted, with the same odds of this happening as the sucky trade-up I had gotten earlier.

So at the end of the day, I ended up with a less-than-desirable Cobalt trade-up against all odds, but the universe made it up to me with a really lucky trade-in to make up for it. I couldn’t be happier.

But then I got happier.

Because this happened.

And I kid you not.

This is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen in Dirty Bomb.

And it is my moment to savor for the rest of my entire Dirty Bomb career.

TL;DR: Yesterday was quite an exciting day for me. :stuck_out_tongue:

Wow, I think I’m more impressed by how nicely this is all presented, more than anything else XD
Regardless, well done on the skyhammer kills and good luck next time for your cobalt phoenix

Mhmm…yup!
Spending around a million of credits just to get that one loadout you wanted least sucks.
But you know what sucks even more?
Getting it twice. Yup. Twice.

Over 2.2 million credits spent and this is the result.
But hey, I shouldn’t complain considering I got two (four) cobalts, the best Sparks, Fragger and Sawbonez in gold.
Maybe I haven’t prayed to the RNG god hard enough.
Nevertheless I only need 14k credits and then I can try it again…wish me good luck.

I love that loadout…
(cause its the one I got in cobalt too)
but reason doesn’t matter, right?

Anyways good luck with new trade-up/in :stuck_out_tongue:

I would’ve taken screenshots if I didn’t pass out from sheer excitement but here’s the thing: Six kills, 1 mine.

Grats on your Rhino atleast :stuck_out_tongue:

I traded all my good golds for this… gun yes, card no.

hrm that phoenix card is pretty solid though, imo. The kek is pretty nice (then again all of phx’s smgs are decent) and the selbstadt is a muuuch better pistol than the caulden. Augments aren’t bad at all, it’s sort of a “battle medic” load out. I’d take any of those three augments over augments like cool or big ears. Good card imo :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks! Thanks! And thanks! ^u^

Yeah, maybe, but when I play Phoenix I’m playing because I want a good medic, and I want my loadout cards to have at least one decent medic augment. Healing Reach is basically a waste of a slot… 15% isn’t ever going to be the difference between hit and miss with a healing pulse.

Cool may not be that useful, but there’s always a time when I’m getting kills on a machinegun thinking to myself “damn, I wish I had Cool right now…” xD

As for the KEK, I just don’t like it very much… it runs out of ammo a bit faster than I would like (which is why I prefer the Hochfir), and it doesn’t deal remarkable damage (which is is why I prefer the Crotzni). It’s a bit too much of a “Goldilocks” gun, I guess. :stuck_out_tongue:
