Don’t know if I should post this in merc discussions or here but I’ll do it here.
I have an Idea about a feature that this game could really use: Limiting merc usage per team to only 1/2/3 (depending on the player capacity) in a match… The reason why is: everybody uses the same merc. I was in a match where EVERY teammate played Proxy and permanently requesting ammo, even tho I, the only one not playing as Proxy, am playing as Phoenix and therefore can’t deliver Ammo either! And none of these Proxys actually repaired the EV as they should…
The same thing happened when Playing another EV game on Chapel as Jackal… Everyone was camping with their Aimees and Vassilis at the EV’s start: I was being Fletcher and managed to bring the EV around the first corner, then I was being permanently brought down, I got NO support because all my Sniper teammates were still at the start where nobody was anymore at that time, still camping… We lost both rounds without even being close to a competition to the well balanced enemy Team! I think this is a feature that this game needs. Because if only 2 people can play as proxy in one team, there would only be two instead of 8 Proxys, making the team more balanced… There might be maybe still alot of snipers since Vassili and Aimee are two different mercs, but maybe limiting the amount of Snipers overall might help… What do you guys think?
An Idea about a new feature
Not a new idea, its been brought up before. I get where you are coming from and it can be frustrating, but I think it’s a bad idea overall. You’re only allowed 3 picks for your squad, how irritating would it be to have one, or two, or heaven forbid ALL of your merc choices restricted because other people are already playing them? The problem with your example isn’t entirely merc stacking, it’s the players themselves. I’ve played games where we had 7 Artys and one Sawbonez and we CRUSHED the competition. It’s more about the players than it is the merc choices.

The maximum amount of players a Team can have is 8, so if mercs can only be used by 3 players maximum there’s always at least one merc you can pick. And About what you said about the players doesn’t always have to be the case: Arty isn’t an easy character to play, he costs 50k and Sawbonez is a solid choice too, but the most stacked mercs are Proxy, Vassili and Aimee. Proxy is in Free Rotation and Vassili only costs 30k, that’s the amount of money you get at the beginning, The stacked mercs are mercs that are exploitable to Noobs. I think Vassili’s price should be raised and maybe proxys too. I personally don’t like the Idea of a free rotation, because Noobs exploit it and this is one of the worst games where noobs could exist (at that point I have to admit that I have a bad aim and don’t play good as well but at least I am fulfilling my teamwork and Merc tasks)
But I think Proxys low price could still cause her to be overused even after her free Rotation is over, I don’t think it’s the same case for Aimee
Bad idea and wouldn’t work without a decent amount of tweaking. Public matches are just that, public, open, and casual. You’re not playing in a competitive environment so there should be as little restrictions as possible. Even in ranked I wouldn’t like the idea of merc restrictions.
@AspergerKid pArty costs 30k, and is basically Skyhaggis Premium.
No matter how good you are, there will ALWAYS be an Asian better than you.
Making this one change though would impact too much to be worth it though. What about the person who comes into the match trying to play Vassili but there’s already three Vasilli’s? Well screw you then cause you only get to choose from 2 of your squad instead of three. You see the balancing problems with that? From there you either have to get rid of the “squad of three” idea (which is one of the best things about DB) or just not limit mercs cause you can’t have both and remain balanced.

That feature would solve so many player-caused issues.
