Ammo Supply From Soldiers?

Will Operative be irrelevant in FF off modes like in TF2? I hope not. Maybe SD has an answer for that too.

(tokamak) #22

An operative has much more to do than disguising but yeah good point, the FF was what made the disguises in both ET’s so effective.

What effect does friendly fire have on disguises? The only thing that comes to my mind is that you can shoot a teammate and if you get a normal hitbeep you know it is an enemy.

And I doubt he’ll be irrevelant when there’ll be primary hacking objectives like in ETQW.

(tokamak) #24

That’s exactly the effect. Without FF you can shoot anyone to check for disguises while with FF that would be a very inappropriate thing to do as you would be bleeding your team. I think it cheapens the gameplay.

Then again, not sounding hitsounds on disguised enemy does diminish this. Not showing health loss should then happen as well in order to be consistent.

(Achtung) #25

Yeah the only thing I could think to fix that is to make them take no damage until you are found out. Like in Wolf ET when your disguise pops off when found out.

Oh well Ill be playin FF anyways. It fixes so many things. Random nade ect.

I see Gametrailers.com finally put a release date of Jan 1 now instead of Sept 7th which had me excited as hell till a couple weeks ago lol.

Now i need to find out if thats true.

Not really. In etqw for example you would shoot them in the foot if someone was acting suspiciously, reducing the damage as much as possible. Its considered appropriate in this instance.

Slightly off topic:
In etqw comp matches, disguises ‘werent’ used because of the perception that they would be found out pretty quickly. As it turns out, this belief made them easier to fool with a disguise as they automatically assumed that they were a teammate. lololol

(tokamak) #27

It would still cause damage, with FF off you can go to town on your entire team to check for disguises.

(potkettleblack) #28

Yes but it doesnt matter if it damages them. You’re not bleeding them to be a pain, you’re bleeding them for the sake of the team. Therefore its appropriate.

And yeah you can go to town with FF off, and it may cheapen the mechanic, but you could also say that about general shooting. You could spray and pray every single thing you see move.

(tokamak) #29

It is a pain to be shot at to see if you’re a disguised or not. If everyone checked everyone on disguises within a team then everyone would’ve had 7 toe shots, resulting in 56 friendly fire hits, not a big deal with FF off. But with FF on you would need more intelligent ways to find disguises, and truly weigh the value of shooting someone to check for disguise.

It’s not really comparable with spray and pray, which is just an ineffective way to fight. Shooting team-mates without friendly fire has no downside at all, so you need to think less about it. It enables so much cheapness, on top of checking disguises, you can also just fire away at an enemy near your team-mates while with FF on they would’ve been great shields for that opponent.

FF generally just removes a whole dimension out of the game.

In QW I sometimes wish it was off for good >.<!!! rage. Getting killed more by teammates than enemies is annoying…

FF Complaint TKs and autokick after so many tks is a fine answer.

(tokamak) #32

That and a hefty xp fine which I though in QW was way too small.
