Ammo dispensers/stations

So the ammo dispensers on maps give ammo really f-ing slow. And weird amounts as-well. F.E Blishlok SMG gets 7 bullets per ‘received ammo’ popup and from 0 / 0 ammo to a full stack takes about 30~ seconds of standing next to the dispenser. Also know that on some of the snipers for Vasili it simply gives 1 bullet per ‘received ammo’ which is just silly :stuck_out_tongue: Also feels weird that it’s such a fast paced games but when you run out of ammo(and especially in pubs where you have to scream at voice coms for ammo before something happens) means you just have to go stationary for 30 seconds next to ammo dispenser :frowning:

Change this to ‘received ammo’ = 1 magazine / clip(like the ammo racks in ET)? Makes it faster and you don’t have to reload 4 times while standing next to it to actually have a full clip.

I spend a large chunk of my time milling around at ammo dispensers too, mostly because I can never seem to get given enough ammo in public matches. I go through it whilst staying alive for a considerable amount of time. Could be nice to at least get a clip just by bumping into one. Then have a refresher time on giving you more. At least in this way you can get enough ammo to fight a little bit again.

Ye one would think that with all these skyhammers ammo wouldnt be a problem. Apparantly it is difficult to hit one button.

Yeh i think the amount of ammo being low is deliberate so you focus on teamwork. I’d like to see an auto callout for ammo whenever a weapon goes dry. pressing v22 isn’t that hard but it could be made easier.

I spam v22 way more than my weapon going actually dry tho

Instead of getting small amounts of ammo over a long time I would like to see the ammo containers be intractable so I could just hold F for a few seconds and get all my ammo filled. It still would be less convenient than getting ammo from team mates but wouldn’t be such a pain.

That would mean you can’t reload at the same time though, still making it slower than just giving you full clips when close to it. Plus requires an extra action which is never a good thing when it can be done with less

I’m really ambivalent about these. They take away from the teamwork aspect of the game and seem like a band-aid more than anything. If your ammo dudes wont give ammo, tough titties. They suck at their job. This is a team work game, and the more you take away from the importance of inter-player interaction the less teamwork you get.

Which is 100% true, in competitive/MM… In public play 75% of Skyhammers/Arty’s couldn’t care less about giving ammo and only play those mercs for the spam abilities. From the remaining 25%, ~10% is people who have no clue how the game works, ~5% who have don’t pay attention to VSAYS or have VOIP disabled. Put that into numbers and you’re lucky if you have 1 ammo giving merc on your team that drops packs.

I don’t think it’s that bad, really. Although I do agree the amount of ammo given to some weapons is odd, 30 seconds still sounds like hyperbole.

some weapons load at a pretty ok rate in my opinion, but others really are given ammo to slow
like the pistols (at least some if not all) getting 1 ammo per tick, while even some shotties are getting 2 shells - feels a bit silly, but yeah, not a big issue in general

Last time I checked, the rate was fixed at 1/4 of a full clip per tick, regardless of the weapon or clip size, rounded down. It’s that last bit that makes the replenish rate very slow for weapons that have very small clips, anything with less then 8 bullet clips getting only 1 per tick.

Proxy SMG gets like half a clip per refill. Fragger’s refill rate also seems faster than 12 bullets.

It’s been a while since I looked at this closely, the current figures could be different. But I suspect it’s still something similar that causes some weapons to refill one bullet at a time.

Why not both?
Get small ammounts of ammo passively OR activate rearm sequence and get full after 3 secs, as easy as that!
