Hi everyone,
I this fix doubled / tripled my FPS from ~20 (at lowest possible settings) to 40-70 (with motion blur, and high quality post processing). Before, changing the video settings had no effect, but everything basically ran choppy and slow…
The fix for me was the TLB fix for AMD Phenom processors. You can read about it and how to resolve the problem here…
The idea is, in a nutshell is that old phenom I processors (9500, 9600) had a bug, the TLB bug, where there is a very very slim chance of a race-condition crashing the system. AMD implemented a software driver solution that basically bypasses the problem, but with a 20% drop in CPU processing power.
Here’s the rub! In subsequent hardware, the bug was fixed…but, apparently, Windows 7 keeps the crippling fix on (apparently for many AMD processors, not just 9500 / 9600) – even if you turn it off in the bios, it turns it back on on boot (I didn’t know it could do that, but I verified this). I followed the instructions for the
The following
**Be sure to download the 32bit version of CrystalCPUID.
**TLB_ver_1.05.rar (Nice GUI Interface Version)

And followed the instructions. Voila - huge FPS boost. BRINK runs a dream now.
I make no promises. But it worked wonders for me.
I’m sorry if this isn’t too clear. I got a migraine this evening and thinking is difficult
But woot! Brink works!

Cheers,
