AMD drivers stopped working and has recovered when trying to launch Brink

Well guys, that’s really a shame… I don’t understand what happened, but i was able to play the game normally when i first installed it some time ago, and i was using an older version of the catalyst. Then, i stopped playing it for some time and aquired some of the new releases, like RAGE, Battlefield 3 and so on, which required me to install the specific fixes for these games and also update catalyst since new versions were released. Now im on the newer version (11.10), and decided to play Brink yesterday, and then it happened. The game doesn’t launch anymore, the AMD drivers stop responding so i can’t even launch it. I alredy tried to reinstall it and install the redistributables again but nothing changes. I searched a lot on the internet but no one seems to talk about this, and i don’t know what to do anymore. I don’t believe i will lose my game because of AMD’s drivers bugs. Can anyone help me? Thanks in advance.

PS: my rig can run it on maximized settings, so dont come telling me i cant run it because i alredy used to play it. (i7 Second Generation, 8gb of ram, 1tb of HD and Radeon HD 6770M with 1gb of video memory)

I guess noone ever talked about this because when they updated their drivers for BF3 they stayed there ;).

Does reverting back to older drivers make it playable again? Could you confirm?

Perform a full uninstallation of your AMD drivers and then reinstall the ones you would need for Battlefield 3/Rage/etc. to confirm that the conflict lies with the drivers themselves and not just the update process leaving unwanted files behind.

The sticky in this forum has a link to details on how to uninstall your AMD drivers.

I made a series of tests reinstalling different versions of catalyst, and here is the results: for Brink, i can launch it on 11.5, for RAGE, the only way i can play it without keep crashing is to use the 11.9 version that comes with the rage performance drivers, and for BF3, the best choice is 11.10(it still works with the 11.9 im actually using, but i havent tested if the game still crashes some times). So, i have everything playable now with no problems, except Brink, which seem to be incompatible with newer versions of catalyst. Is this a common thing? I dont think so lol (it would be really a shame if theres no way but to keep uninstalling and reinstalling different drivers everytime i want to play any of these games)

We’ve confirmed the latest Radeon drivers work fine for Brink on desktop. For issues with mobility cards, you should contact Radeon directly or your laptop/card supplier as the specific configurations vary from setup to setup.
