Am I The Only One Who Gets Lag In-Game Sometimes And Lags Like Hell In Menu?

(XavienX) #1

Every once in a while in-game, I get these random frame drops when I set this game on medium settings. But my graphics card can handle this game on max and no frame drops or lag. But if I have this game on max, the menu and lobby menu lags like crazy, I can’t even select a loadout. Which really confuses me because in game there isn’t any lag, besides the random frame drops, but it’s so laggy in the menus.
Am I the only one?

That kind of lag is there because the game is still in beta. The issues will slowly be fixed as the game develops more. You could always make a post in the “bug reports” including your game logs or a detailed description of the issue.

You know, the GPU isn’t the whole PC. You can have a different issue with your system or the game isn’t optimized for your special system.

(Ghosthree3) #4

It’s definitely not universal though, I get zero performance issues, yet a friend who I know has a preyy good, not quite as good, pc gets the drops. Menu is low fps for everyone I think.

(capriciousParsely) #5

do you have a gsync screen? i do and my game menus lags extremely much.

(Ghosthree3) #6

Yes I do, I have to switch to windowed mode for the menus or they are unusable. Framerate still low though.

EDIT: Oops this might have been directed at the OP not me.

You’re not the only one mate.

Thankfully the frame drops in game are rare, and if you plan on opening any cases, quickly enter windowed mode like Ghost suggested with alt+enter to avoid the lag, then switch back once you’ve rejoined/queued for a server.

Smooth as butter. A few crashes and amusing non-performance related weirdness.

Doesn’t seem like I’m the only one…

Lag in the menus is usually not due to performance (atleast my PC manages smooth 300+ fps in the menus even tho I sit at 20-80 ingame) but a strained backend server. Pretty much every menupage (and loading page) has to pull data from the servers. In peak hours they still get laggy.

(Ghosthree3) #11

Funny, as the menus are restricted by default in the config to 120 fps, though it doesn’t feel like it hits that.

(CCP115) #12

Menus have crashed numerous times for me.

Ingame I can get drops, but there isn’t a reliable way for me to test my FPS. If I turn on the counter, then I can’t pay attention to the game. If there was a benchmark, that would help a little I suppose.

I’ve been saying, that currently g-sync users are getting a horrible first impression of the game, because the very first thing they’re greeted with, are the incredibly laggy menus.

When they jump into the tutorial, they get this awful, stuttery tutorial video thrown in their face, that they have to skip, to preserve their sanity.

The game itself plays “alright”, although performance is not at all impressive.

I can’t recommend potato configs enough, they are real life savers for now, but even they won’t save you from the fps drops and stuttering, possibly caused by memory leaks.

Not only that, but the intro video that plays only once - I don’t know if you remember it - was super stuttery as well. I had to go find it on youtube to watch it properly after finding out why it was so laggy.

For me the actual game plays perfectly though, smooth as butter, no hitching, perfect.

I had forgotten about the intro video, it’s been a while.
I remember skipping or alt tabbing it, though, because the stuttering was getting on my nerves, haha.

Yes all those problems with menu lag in menu even i can t move my mouse to chat / to much loading screan … when you press conect and you wait to loading screan you hear the tutorial video … maybe to make the menu like League of Legends windows menu

IKR…can’t even move my cursor… forcing me to not run the game on max even though I don’t lag in-game (except for those random lag/frame drops) because I can’t do anything in the menus.

What’s your PC spec? CPU, RAM and GPU. GPU drivers version?

Have you tried to repair the game files (“verify game cache” or whatever it is called on Steam) ?

I have a old Nvidia GTX 280, but since my dad’s an engineer, he helped me optimized it so that I can even run games like Battlefield and Titanfall on medium settings. And yes I verified game cache on Steam. Although sometimes in menu, it doesn’t lag, but most of the time it does.
