So, trinkets are a rather new thing in Dirty Bomb. We’ve seen one trinket set for the Christmas event, one purchasable set (again, for Christmas), and Rank trinkets. SD and Nexon have said many times on stream that they can go any direction with the Trinket Concept, and here is one way I think they should go:
So, on Battlefield, you earn Ribbons in-game for preforming certain tasks, and after collecting a certain amount of Ribbons you earn a medal. Click here for an example. Now, in Battlefield, you earn XP for earning Ribbons and medals.
Now, look back at Dirty Bomb. You can earn “Badges” by completing certain tasks in-game (Revive Spree, Ace, etc.), and earn XP for getting badges. Right now, badges can really help your XP/Minute, but there is no task for earning large amounts of medals, so beyond upping your xp/m, there is no incentive to earn badges. Adding an “Earn X amount of badges to earn a trinket” might incentivize players to earn badges (and maybe get noobs to go on “revive sprees” and actually heal as Aura, but I digress). I really want to see SD and Nexon make event/purchasable Trinkets yes, because revenue sources are always good, but I really see trinkets as an opportunity to add a BF Badge / CoD Calling Card element to DB that it currently lacks. It allows for more of a completionist aspect to the game (beyond unlock all the mercs, get all the loadout cards, etc.) and adds more of a reward to people who have no social life and grind out the game during their free time, like myself. I see this as a chance for DB to gain more of a depth and allow it to further compete with triple A FPS titles on the market today, and be on a more equal playing ground with them.
(Note, I heard this idea from somewhere but I forgot, but after looking back at my Battlelog in BF4 I thought of this)
Thoughts?
EDIT: And I know there is sort of a taboo to bringing up other competing games, but I do so only in reference to help build up Dirty Bomb. Play less CoD/BF, play more DB <3
