Alternate Reloading Animations

I have a shotgun (Winchester Model 97) that holds 6 shells in a tube under the barrell.
I want to have the reload animation coresponf to the number of shells the player is actually loading, so it takes longer to load all 6 than to just top it off, plus I don’twant to show the loading of all six shells if I’m only putting in 2 or 3.

Has anyone else done anything like this, and if so, whats the easiest way? Should I put 6 different animations, or just one and loop it up to six times? I’m sure I could get it to work the way I want given time, but I’d like to draw from any experience that might already be in the pool.

from when i tested adding a gun to the game i would say you would play the same animation over and over to say yourslef some files size

might be cool though if you gave two or three animations of loading a shell into the gun then chose at random so it looked more natural

Reloading anmiations and their sound effects are cool. In some games, I pick weapond partly due to the fact that they have ubercool animations/sound effects. Flip, flip, ka-tjing!

What we’re planning is to do it the way CoD does.
One sequence for getting ready to load, then loading a single round, but not finishing loading.
One seqence for loading a single round, but not finishing loading. (this is repeated as many times as you need)
One sequence for finishing loading.

“finishing loading” in the above means what you do after you’ve loaded the last round you want to. Such as closing the bolt and returning the gun to the firing position.

It’ll take some swish coding, but it’s the way to go.

Any luck on that sonuk? If so, I’d love some pointers, as this seems to be the only way to do it. If not, I’d like to work together on it with you, two heads are better than one. Or is the CoD game source available ? I’ve never played it, but it is a Q3 engine game, right?

CoD source isn’t available. I don’t know how Tim (No1_sonuk) and Jaquboss have progressed on this. I’d have to ask them, but they’re asleep lol. I know Jaquboss has been writing and implementing our weapon scripting system - I would imagine that it’s been included.
